Day 11 on the Pennine Way took me 20 miles ip and over the mighty Cross Fell and into Alston. I’m walking the Pennine Way to raise money for MIND. If you would like to donate you can do so here: www.justgiving.com/fundraisin...

The famous helm wind on the tops there💨 The road you come down from cross fell is call the corpse road, it's a right drag.

Hi Allan. I think I came away relatively unscathed on this one. I was fortunate the rain stayed away until I’d descended from Cross Fell. I imagine it would have been challenging in extremely bad weather. Corpse Road did seem to go on forever. I did enjoy the section along the Tyne trail into Alston once the sun came out

Hi Anthony. Looked very peaceful & remote up there! Was about to say how windy it looked until you said it wasn't that bad 😁 B&B looked good👍 ATB!

Thanks Des. Cross Fell is lovely and quiet. At 900 metres too, it’s a great alternative to the Lake District. Really enjoyed Greg’s Hut too. I love a nice bothy

You are absolutely smashing it Anthony. Another lengthy day and you made great progress. That couple you saw without any gear are probably taking your advice and having a romantic evening at Greg’s :)

I've been watching your videos and its brought back so many memories from my successful 2nd attempt to complete the Pennine Way in 1992 aged 23. im not as fit nowadays but would love to give it another bash. Keep determined and look forward to the end and you have to do The Cheviot climb - if its safe weather-wise. Its a great life changing achievement at any age. Stay safe.

Thanks Gary. It’s a great trail isn’t it? Gales may possibly be arriving for my final day which might ruin my hopes of visiting the Cheviot summit. I’m currently planning to do the last 25 miles in one go but will see how I’m feeling and the weather forecast. I’ve got a 24 mile day tomorrow as I’m staying 2 miles off trail tonight! Hope you get round to walking it again sometime 🤞

You can do this and it will be a fulfilling life experience. This is not just a long distance walk - you walked to Scotland.

Gday Anthony, wow day 11! Can't get over how quickly you are getting through this trail, amazing work well done! Yesterday's video is on our catchup list, we were put enjoying sunshine 🌞 bigger cows and smaller rooms made us chuckle lol 😆 Loving the look of this section, starting to feel very different from the early sections 👍❤⛰ Cross fell and the storm break was excellent 👌 Greg's hut was nice too, very well stocked and another welcome break from the elements. Well done plodding on in the rain, always a slog 🌧 Plessed George is doing well too, nice update thanks AJ 👍❤🐄🐃 Keep on trekking, Ceri and Kat ☕ 🤗🌞

Greggs lol. I thought surely there isn't one up there 😁 The weather soon sets in and you've done well with it so far. That guy on the peak probably went up there to get some alone time before seeing you up there lol. You're doing great. Hope you managed to get a roast dinner, it will help to refuel for the rest of the way. Keep going 😎

I remember the first time I went up Snowdon. Our instructor told us there was a tea shop on top…none of us believed him :)

What a well equipped & well looked after bothy. The weather looks brutal but at least it eases off. Keep those tunes going & plough on… you got this 👊🏼 enjoy the Roast Dinner, if you get one. You deserve it.

Another good long section done. Quite rugged country up there with the inevitable boggy parts. At least it didn’t rain for the whole walk. 11 days done. Hope today is a good one 👍

I slept in the Cross Fell shelter although I think it was my day 6 or day 7 it was a harsh day and night before tent was a wet one so dried it out there

I imagine Cross Fell is a tough place on a bad weather day. I was pleased I’d descended before the rain arrived

All things considered, I reckon CF treated you pretty well, with a nice high level walk over Knock and the two Dun Fells beforehand. You now have Hadrian's Wall to look forward to which I think is pretty cool. ATB, Chris

I’m looking forward to Hadrian’s Wall tomorrow. Not looking forward to the 24 mile day though. I’ve had to stay 2 miles down the road from the trail!

I believe the observatory you passed is the Great Dunn Fell Field Station. The giant golf ball shape on top is a civil aviation radar, which I think? aids with air traffic navigation. Seems like that particular field station has primarily been used for cloud microphysics experiments as the fell top is often sat in the cloud layer.

What software do you use to put together all the video clips before you upload it, fantastic set of videos mate😊
@AnthonyJohnson12 жыл бұрын
I used an App on my phone called KineMaster. It was excellent for editing and uploading on the go. Having said that, doing a video after each days walk became harder work than the actual Sal itself 😆

Touch wood, none yet. I did spray Permethrin on my trousers before I left which I hope will keep them at bay if any try to get on me

Alston, pronounced 'olston'

Thanks Chris. I watched all of Dean Reads Pennine Way videos and payed special attention to all the place name pronunciation issues, so I blame him 🤣
