Getting Tappei Nagatsuki(Re Zero author) as a writer is honestly great for a Suicide Squad Project. He excels ar making complex and flawed characters which is perfect for the suicide squad, as well as makes great villains and is great at handling gore in stories

Here's the thing, if you think about it, "The Wizard of Oz," "Alice in Wonderland," and "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" could be considered isekai. So a Western take on isekai is not really unprecedented.

the og isekai concept is usually when you die and reincarnate in another world or you are just summoned randomly to another world. the mid - modern isekai concepts is that you are able to travel between worlds on command or accident via portal or magic door an example being the anime name Gate. i think they are more concepts/ iteration of isekai but what i listed is basically the gist of what makes a isekai plot.

Maybe a gate/portal to another world opens and the suicide squad gets Dispatched to stop monsters from getting to earth idk and find a way to close the portal/gate from the inside idk

there was a shot in the teaser showing the full landscape that was floating in the sky. off to the bottom right you can see a giant helicopter, so it leads me to believe that somehow the Suicide Squad are transported off mission to this new world it seems and they crashed there. tbh it didn't answer Amanda's involvement but I think she'll be able to connect to them in some fashion. cuz there's no way she only has like one scene in the first episode (if it's a series and not a movie). my guess is she's gonna try to find a way to get them back to Earth and that's her sub plot. Harley and Joker do Harley and Joker things while they and the Suicide Squad probably prevent some demon lord from blowing up the planet or something lol. idk but I'm hyped af.

TBF DC has been doing Isekai for decades. DC is full of being sent to other worlds, dimensions, and other universes. Heck Adam Strange is a famous Isekai character for DC from the 1950's. John Carpenter is an american book character from Moons of Marsfirst serialized in 1912 that spun a whole series based on Isekai.

Marvel and DC are unironically great settings to set any isekai you know how many portals to different dimensions, world's, universes, and ect... There are open in either of these franchises at any one time between the different demon world, heaven world's, microworlds, and godly worlds if you think about it they've been doing isekai for like 60 years.

Sorry about this but to correct you on 1 thing yes isekai now is death and rebirth but note isekai origin isnt about that its about traveling to a fantasy world its just got popularize wiyh rebirth but original its like how digimon or japanese kids go to fantasy world and save the day or summon hero Also i get ya i have more fate in the animation than live action Sorry about my words hope its ok a big fan just wanted to remind people that iseaki isnt always dying and re birth but it is what it is today
