The People's Court

Жыл бұрын

The plaintiff says his car broke down on the side of the road, and the defendant rebuilt his engine. However, there were new problems with the car he never had before. Now the car is in worse shape than before, so he’s suing the defendant for the money he’s owed. The defendant says he fixed the car two years ago and gave him a one-year warranty. The plaintiff didn’t even pay for the repair -- his mother did. After a year, the defendant says the plaintiff just wanted to get rid of the car. Bottom line, the defendant says he owes this “joker” nothing.

I don’t know how she stands it. I have some clients who are very ignorant but know they’re ignorant and are willing to be taught. I’ve been coming here for about a year because I was hoping to help people by clarifying legal issues (without giving legal advice). Instead, I just get infuriated by the level of WILLFUL IGNORANCE so many commenters here have. They don’t want to learn. They’re sexist, racist, homophobic, xenophobic, etc. etc. and they’re very proud of that and don’t want to change it. Further, they won’t listen, because they’re extremely disrespectful of me and my colleagues, saying that they know everything we know-and often they think more, because they don’t want to hear that the law doesn’t actually match their confirmation biased Google. If I were Judge Milian, I would have walked off by now. Jesus.

People don't bring expert witnesses for one of the same reasons they don't have a mechanic look at a car before they buy it: It costs money and they often really can't afford it. They're rolling the dice and they wind up losing.

Oww she even SAID she was circling him and going in for the kill and yet he STILL kept digging his own grave!! PRICELESS!!! This definitely is one of my favorite episodes!!! The only thing is that it looks like the plaintiff is not very capable of handling his emotions and I sure hope he didn’t retaliate against the garage after all this. His little remark after the verdict and the way he walked out, makes me question this….

Anybody else ever been in retail or another service industry where you get that one customer who just will not leave you alone? They find a way to contact you three or five times a week, and tell you about their life for 3 to 5 hours a day. This is one of those guys. He looked at the mechanic shop as his buddy's house where he could take his car and try to get it fixed by his friends. No, my man. This is a business. We're here to make money. If you find yourself talking to the same clerks over and over again, for half an hour, 45 minutes, maybe you're that person. If you are, please stop. The world needs to keep going, and we don't need to hear about every aspect of your life, multiple times a week. You are not a walking soap opera. Nobody cares. Spend your money, and leave. We will treat you with kindness and respect, and we ask that you do the same with our time.

The plaintiff know exactly what the judge was asking for when she said show me proof from another mechanic saying that the defendant's mechanical work screwed up everything. This plaintiff was an absolute putz. I can't believe the defendant put up with him for as long as he did. There was no talking to him or reasoning with him. He was right and there's no changing his mind. His attitude was terrible. It was 11/10 watching JM knock him down a couple of pegs from his high horse. He clearly doesn't watch TPC if he thinks his flapping gums will get him anywhere. All he needed was something from another mechanic at another shop saying the work that defendant did was faulty and either did nothing or broke the car worse. A 14/15 (depending on if it rolled out in 98 or 99) year old car once one issue happens under the hood, more tend to happen. Yes, I know that older cars can still run, and run well, but a few things. They don't make cars like they used to 50 years ago, and I highly doubt a lot of these owners nowadays take care of their vehicles properly, like getting it properly serviced every 75,000 miles or whatever the make/model says. My husband did this with his last truck. Didn't get serviced like he should have, then had to pay a few grand and be without it for a few days. Needless to say, he learned his lesson. Lol.

I reluctantly agreed and it ended up I knew the mechanic doing the job and he was pretty PO about the guy trying to undermine him and the shop when job was already in progress. I told the mechanic that I didn’t know why guy wasn’t trusting shops ability to do the repair right and the price quoted and the mechanic said it’s because customer is a cheap bastard and was trying to get a lower price on job and gas pull the same crap on other repairs made prior. That shop told the guy when the repair was done to find another shop because they don’t want him as a customer and I learned a valuable lesson never advocate for someone that is a BS artist and go and advocate for someone at another’s shop.
