Another amazing collab - Ashens and Barry surely complement each other perfectly - Ashens is a comedian who occasionally deals with food and Barry is a food specialist who occasionally deals with comedy.

My top 5 would probably be: 1. Giant strawberries 2. Fizzy cola bottles 3. Teeth and brushes 4. Jelly babies 5. Those huge spiral strawberry things that if you had 4 in your bag it would cost £86.50

The "rabbit poo" is similar to something my local newsagent used to sell called "choc lick" which was badly crushed and pulverised M&Ms, some of which was almost chocolate dust with chunks of M&M. He also sold something called "Malt Crumb" which was Maltesers in a similar crushed stste. We would buy it by the quarter (of a pound) and eat it out of the bag with spoons from our toy tea sets.

Yay barry + ashens = awesomeness. Im only 27 and i remember going to the shop as a kid and there was big pick n mix counter and u could get loads of sweets for 50p in a white paper bag. I just used to ask for a mixture. Thats all gone now. The pick n mix u get is expensive and over £1 per 100g. My favourites were white mice and those bubaloo chewing gums

From what I remember, the last item that was tried was called 'Choc Nibbles' and 'Choc Lick' - memories of walking home from school in the mid 90's with a face covered in chocolate dust.

I can't stand carbonated drinks either. Whenever someone gave me a carbonated drink, I used to take a spoon or a fork and get rid of all the bubbles. Apparently people find flat drinks disgusting, but I find them way more palatable than the fizzy ones. Granted I'd prefer to avoid the stuff altogether.

Its funny how as we grow older, our interest in consuming sweets decreases. I remember in year 7 there use to be those who sold chewing gum and bags of sweets like they were dealing drugs!

There is a shop where I live (a little town in England) were all you can get is old sweets that are no longer around and even American sweets like twinkies and the lucky charms cereal and behind the counter is a pick and mix were there are Bon bons, chocolate things and everything and they are so cheap. Although I am only 16 this year I still feel nostalgia every time I walk in there and buy some sweets that I had never heard of because I wasn't even born

Pic n mixes are measured by weight. I have fond memories of buying a very large bag of marshmallows while my brother bought like 5 cola bottles, a piece of fudge, and a single strawberry cable.

When I was a kid I remember the local Martin shop pick and mix had black Jacks that were always with the fruit salads and a spearmint chewie sweet.

I used to like black jacks and fruit salads / refresher's / cola bottles / jelly rings and many others from when I was younger in the 80s 90s.

barry i still buy chocolate crumb and choc lick from my local vintage sweet shop! - only on rare occasion though, because it's just floor sweepings from cheapo cadbury and nestle chocolate factories, but the sound of the scales filling up with sweets is so evocative!

they used (USED) to make small TOOTHBRUSHES out of the same stuff as the teeth. and you KNOW, EVERY kid would brush they're teeth with them, and THEN eat them. for MAXIMUM damange! XD lol i wonder why they stopped.... XD lol

Chocolate hundreds and thousands were nice too. They were exactly how they were described, white/milk chocolate covered in hundreds and thousands!

The chocolate powder was called Choc-lick, and the bits were called Choc-nibs in the tuck shop on the way to school. I always loved Goggs, chocolate mice, iced cups, chocolate logs and flying saucers. Loved the video, brought back some memories :)

The chocolate lumps in most sweet shops are known as chocolate nibs and the dust known as choco lick. The nibs are even nicer in the mint and orange flavours :)

the chocolate stuff reminds me of puppy chow. it's rice chex with melted chocolate all over them then add powdered sugar to keep them from sticking together. that stuff was amazing. you can even add peanut butter to the chocolate if you wanted to.

You mentioned a toothbrush version of them teeth sweets. They exist! They were called "Fungums" I believe and they came with teeth as well!

It was a massive 20 pence a quater and worth every Pennie of my hard earned pocket money!!, how about trying to find the heaven for a Pennie "foaming strawberries " or maybe the two Pennie sweets "beer bottles" ??. reminds me of going to the general store in the small rural community I grew up in and getting a small brown bag of penny candies, gummy worms, Swedish berries, small chocolate domes covered in candy sprinkles (for the life of me I can't remember the name) it was heaven. Here in the big city they have a similar style store called "Freak Lunchbox" but a more contemporary selection (I think I saw Curly Whirlies (sp) there once)

Oh man! Those chewy teeth was a part of the pick & mix candies when I was a kid too, but in Sweden! So I guess they were avaliable in several countries. Btw, pick & mix in Swedish is "Lösgodis" which directly translates to "loose candy" :D

One of the most nostalgic pick and mix sweets for me has got to be chocolate raisins. Mainly because Woolworths used to sell pick and mix by the cup size rather than by weight, so we would pour a load of chocolate raisins in and shake the cup and repeat until there was no more space.

That last one was my favourite as a kid! You can still get it here and there. Toffee Crumble, that's what we always called it! The shop opposite my school when I was a kid had a really tasty variety that tasted like ground up Twixes, but I've had them in other places and it's tasted kind of stale. It's entirely possible you got some lower quality toffee crumble!

There's a pick and mix in the Burnley 99p Stores, I haven't had one in a while, mainly because they don't have the pineapple cubes and some fizzy candies they had in the range of selectables a long time I'd also like if they brought back the pineapple Old Jamacia drink. Though with the recent news of Poundland wanting to buy the 99p Stores brand, it might not be there for long anyway, and I'll be annoyed should they convert the store into a Poundland because in Burnley, there's already two of them, one in the middle of town, and the other near the ASDA we have.

I just watched your other video and made a comment on Refreshers and Cola Cubes, so this made me rather happy. Though do you ever remember something called Rainbow Dust (not the stuff in tubes) sold in sweet shops? I think it was basically multi coloured dyed sugar you'd buy in a small white paper bag. You lick your finger, stick it in and then suck it off. That actually sounds a bit weird and kinky, but there you go.

Watched for Barry & Ashens, stayed for the Dark Souls shirt. The Sunbro is strong with this one.
