Here's another episode of my podcast where I talk about various things, like a few of my pet peeves, the books I've been reading and/or listening to lately, some of my philosophical thoughts as weird as they are, and other various things about life that I attempted to string together in sentence form.
This is probably the last episode of this Podcast, but let me know what you think should be the name or topic or pretext for another podcast! I'm open to ideas! Thanks everyone.

Hello Peter, I typically watch your videos send a like and move on to the next. I'm not normally one to leave comments. But what you have been talking about in this video has really spoken to me on a really personal level. I too was raised in a very christian house. I when to Christian school all the way through high school. I too am no longer a christian and I have a hard time admitting it because of the guilt I feel in "letting" my mom down. I am really excited to be able to explore other religions and different philosophies and i am glad that i have removed myself from the Christian organization. I think the family guilt is a really interesting part of the whole process. I am also an artist and a lot of my work looks into exploring alternative ways to find god in nature. also making paintings out of dirt. I am so lucky to have an art practice that allows me to see the work and find my own path in ways I never knew were ways of seeing or feeling. thanks for being open and transparent with your thoughts Peter. All the best, Ed

Every time you upload I really like to listen because it reminds me that the inner thoughts of most humans are a lot more familiar than we think. Human existence is often more mundane than we let ourselves believe; that most people are ordinary but all of their experiences are singular to them. We only ever really know our own thoughts as intimately as the way we want to know other people.

Here are some odd ideas I came up with, regarding the new podcast name. 'Just Thinking - A podcast for those who like to think.' I'm so sad the podcast got taken off Spotify :( I like to turn on the little moon timer and just wind down and fall asleep. Your way of expressing yourself is a perfect balance of calm and interesting that enables me to clear my head and just go along with it all, instead of instigating new thoughts. I love that I get to float away in someone else's stream of consciousness, it suddenly makes falling asleep feel serene and effortless for me.

I tend to think we don't have as much free will as we'd like to imagine we do....but I think we should act as if we and others do have it. We definitely experience illusion of our conscious mind being in control when really our subconcious brain is doing most of the thinking and decision-making and our consciousness just bubbles up from there. (You might enjoy the book Hare Brain, Tortoise Mind by Guy Claxton - a lot of it relates to creativity and imagination too). I appreciate you talking openly about therapy, I fully believe in normalising it and seeing it as part of healthy adult life. It's more stigmatised in some cultures than others, but it shouldn't be at all as it is so helpful, and sometimes really necessary.

Kinda funny what makes people mad, but yeah totally agree with you there.

Well I was typing away, then reading my comment and WHoosh! it was gone! OK I was saying why not try "Peter Draws - Some Thoughts" it is non-specific enough for you to do whatever you wish to do. It keeps your brand at the fore-front and it is general enough without being specific to tie you down subject wise. You can always add a generalizing topic after the "Thoughts" Like "on space travel" or " Pen construction" or whatever you like. I am looking forward to watching your channel grow and seeing you prosper. I was so excited to see your own fountain Pen come out! Very cool! I hope your designs are selling like the Hotcakes they certainly appear to be! Til next time be safe and take care.

I have long been lawn-averse. I find them to be one of modern society's greatest follies. They are leaches of resource, maintained largely as a projection of image and status. Coupled by a subconscious human urge to (feebly attempt to) control nature. I get why some people enjoy keeping a lawn, bless their hearts, but it does not change my feelings about it. I have formed these thoughts and more while forcedly mowing the lawn of the property I rent, by pain of eviction. I do love the smell of cut grass though so... silver linings.

Hi Pete - I really enjoy these podcasts while out for a walk or on the treadmill. My life is pretty hectic and it is so good just to put some headphones in and chill to your free flowing thoughts. I also just wanted to say, you remind me a lot of myself when I was younger. I feel like I want to give you life advice, but I don't want to be one of those people who is all like, "I'm so old and wise, listen to what I have to say." Rather than that, I just want to offer words of encouragement - keep it up, you are doing great and don't feel guilty about the weed man.

Peter I think I've found the answer to your question. *I have to do something* Is a shortened way of saying *I have the NEED to do something* The possessiveness of "have" or "got" is a loose indication of the word the sentence lacks, perhaps allowing the phrase to be more open to interpretation. If you say "I *may* do something" you are being indecisive, where as have or need are words paired with the necessity of doing the thing. The shortened versions must have evolved from that as a means to sound less formal or robotic and more natural. But yes, things that come natural and are commonly understand can be quirky when you really investigate them. And this topic is why I love the way Peter's fascinating mind works. 🤠

you might be interested in Andrew Hubermans podcast. It's pretty intellectual stuff...but he explains the neurology behind so many things...including metabolism and how processed foods interact with your brain. Essentially, (i am 100% butchering this) sugar gives us a dopamine hit (i think), and causes us to seek out more foods like that. However, sugar isnt just detected by taste, it is also detected in our gut, so if theres a food item that doesnt taste sweet, manufacturers will sometimes put sugar in it regardless, bc our gut will be like 'oh hey, thats sugar, we like that' and then cause you to seek out more of that food. Same with processed foods, a lot of them contain emulsifyers, which messes with your gut somehow, and even though your eating, your not absorbing anything and causes you to seek more of it...I think it's episode #16 of Huberman Lab if anyone is interested!! He has the science...i do not...haha.

With all the plastic forks you throw away, maybe a little tree made of them would be cool.

Peter, have you read the book of EST? It talks about free will and I vaguely remember it expands on some of the things you were talking about, I think it might interest you xx Also, have you tried the ear piercing that is specifically for migraine headaches? Apparently it works because of the pressure point, I've heard that people have had a huge amount of success with them. I hope you find some relief xx

Content free is an epic name. It's not self-deprecating at all. It's a dig at the stupid way people call everything they make content so they don't have to actually think about what it is providing to the audience, because it's usually nothing. Unlike your podcast which scratches my art itch, but more importantly it is therapudic to me. When I want to throw my entire copic marker collection out the window, I just listen to you speak and think, "what would Peter do." Your life catchup stories are my favorite parts of your videos so now I have that. You don't hate cooking probably, you hate dealing with all the cleaning. Maybe not, but I feel like that's a lot of people. That's what I hate. Edit : take a multi vitamin please

When it comes to the weed topic at around 38:24, you can invest in CBD oil without the traditional high. It's mainly used as a pain reliever and something to help reduce anxiety and depression, and it comes in a lot of different forms depending on where you get it from. Usually when I use CBD oil, it helps me sleep at night and it helps me relax and kind of take control of my anxiety when I need to calm down

Concerning cooking: I personally love to cook and I am quite good at it, also the healthy stuff. But I notice that, when my girlfriend is at work I only have to cook for myself at lunchtime, I often turn to simpler food or not cook at all, because it saves time to do something else and I see it more as "just sustaining myself". But each time I know I'm going to cook for em AND someone else, I get super crafty in the kitchen, because I know it is worth the effort, making it for 2 people to enjoy. If I were on my own, I could imagine that my cooking would be much simpler or at least cut down by 30-50%, simply because of the effort. But I also know, that I enjoy it, that's why I would never not cook completely. I guess things like that depend more on your own motivation. You can eat fairly healthy without being a kitchen god or making everything from scratch. (Ps. The novel Idea sounds like what Rocky Flintstone probably did with "Belinda Blinked" XD )
