Loved it as a child at the end of the fifties. I think it must be over fifty years since I heard the sketch, but it doesn’t disappoint. Wonderfully funny centred on the Major’s failure to prepare TW for his media interview with the perceptive Miss Lisbon, framed around the I’ll fated Nancy Spain.

Written by Muir and Norden, as hilarious now as it was back in `59 and a perfect demonstration of Sellers extraordinary gift for voice characterisation - in this case multiple ones. Nancy Spain said his "Nancy Lisbon" sounded more like her than she did...

It's common now, but RADA didn't teach British actors to do " foreign" accents. It was always embarrasingly obvious when an Englishman was trying to pass as American. But, Sellars was the exception. My father and I used to marvel at how good his American voice was!

Hardly. Nothing more than a tongue in cheek play on the word "Spain". This was written by Frank Muir and Dennis Norden, both good friends of Nancy Spain, well aware of her orientation, and for many years her fellow panelists on "My Word". They would never have taken such a cheap, tacky shot at Nancy Spain, and certainly not in 1959..
