Found this in my uncles record collection many years ago didn't play it at first - too young to appreciate it- but when I did it stayed with me forever. -

I heard this on the weekend for the first time in about 20 years - and it's still absolutely brilliantly funny!

This was a nod towards Tommy STEELE who was a pop star back then. It's why sellers called himself (Mr) IRON.

Tommy Steele of course was far more talented and versatile, and far, far longer lasting. He must know this track!

not sure if anyone cares but if you are bored like me during the covid times then you can watch pretty much all the new movies on InstaFlixxer. Have been watching with my brother recently =)

Believe it or not, I still listen to Goon Show tapes now and then. I'm sure there still many Goon fans still around.

When I was commuting by bus a couple of years ago I found a web radio station (I think it was Australian) which plays wall-to-wall Goon Shows, without ads, DJ's. Bliss

I'm a fan!!! Used to listen to the shows on ABC radio on Saturdays. Whacky brilliance - the voices Sellers and Milligan used to do, the crazy stories. 😂 I've got a few shows on CD and listen to them regularly. The Red Fort's a favourite. Long live laughter. ❤

@tavneenapatsi : My friends and I have been quoting from this since it first came out in 1958. Once a Goon fan, always a Goon fan. It never leaves you. 52 years later, I still remember every word.

Wow!! A rare glimpse into the brilliantly warped mind of Peter Sellers. What a unique talent. If I had heard this as a kid I'm sure I would have memorized it. I have a basement tape of Sellers with Michael Caine that has this same comic flavor. I would like to hear the rest of the cuts from this record. I hope you upload some more of them to KZfaq. Thanks! :)

BBC Radio4 Extra still plays Goon shows every week, as well as Hancocks Half Hour, Round The Horne and other classic comedy shows. You can listen on digital radio, or via the BBC website. Spread the word!

dear Gruntol5: I thought I was the only surviving Goons fan left on de planet: somebody should tell Bonnie Huntsinger that it's Peter Sellers PLAYING Michael Caine (Not many People Know dat). Nice to know there's more than one Goon Fan left.....Regards
