I like the torch... what is it?

Baby powder used to be made from talcum powder but now is made from corn starch due to cancer concerns. Baby powder made from talcum powder had been used for many years as a parting agent. But now that Baby powder is being made with corn starch I wonder if it works well enough with silicone molds. I do some green sand casting with zinc, and still have some of the baby powder made from talcum powder. I'm don't think corn starch will not work for me because it absorbs, which talc doesn't do.

LoL I said baby powder in this because I didn't actually have any. But I did I use my husbands "Medicated Gold Bond" powder and the first ingredient is talc. Maybe the Gold Bond is actually the way to go.

Oh wow thank you for sharing this! I am still gathering supplies for pewter casting and might have overlooked this important detail. This one comment probably saving me from hours of headaches!

You were too fast for me! What temperature do you pour at?

That wasn't a very good way to melt pewter so no idea. It should be cast between 260 and 300C higher temperature required for thinner sections but that will only happen with a 2 part mould.
