He was 53 years old when he did this concert in Bercy, Paris in 2004. Truly an amazing performance by Brad Cole (keyboards, synthesizers, Vocoder), Daryl Stuermer (6 String Guitar), Leland Sklar (Bass Guitar), Chester Thompson ("Rhythm" Drums) and Phil himself (vocals, drums). It was performed in front of 20,000 + people at the "Palais Omnisport de Paris" and truly was, if not the greatest, close to the greatest live performance ever. It was from his "Finally... The First Farewell" Tour and this particular concert in Bercy started with an amazing "Drums, Drums & More Drums" track performed by Phil and his other drummer, the previously mentioned Mr. Thompson. Incidentally, this track ("In the Air Tonight") was the 17th in the tracklist sandwiched between Separate Lives and Dance Into the Light. Phil had the energy he had in this song all the way through to the end of the concert (as did his musicians). Now that he can no longer drum, his son Nicholas plays drums almost as well as the old man did--literally--Phil is in his 70s now and his son was recently on the Domino tour with Genesis--which I believe will be Phil's last. Oh and of course, his daughter Lily is rapidly becoming a famous actress in her own right. So, he's still doing alright I suppose (tongue in cheek).

Nice summary. And I agree perhaps the best performance by anyone anywhere. From the staging, orchestration and slow build-up, suspense, and final execution of what everyone knew was coming with no one being disappointed in the slightest. From his first raised eyebrow to the final drum hit....perfect execution. Goosebumps. Breath taken away. Perfect.

Musicians put parts of themselves in their craft just for the fans. Good music you feel in your soul on a cellular level. Pure talent alone.

Absolutely fantastic he was going through bad divorce at the time and was pure emotional display great video great to watch watching in from Ireland.

Phil Collins is a fantastic musician. The absolute best I have ever heard, and there's just so many incredible songs. Two hearts and something happened on the way to heaven are my favorites. Check out more from him if you have a chance, I think you will dig him.

Omg I love Phil Collins but watching the video with you, when he goes for the drums, I get chills and went nuts for the rest of the song!! I've seen it live a few years ago and I got the same reaction/vibe from it. Guess it's safe to say that it is one of my favorite tunes

Great Reaction to a masterful performance in Paris. It's the hardest musical feat to play the drums AND sing at the same time ! It was about his divorce...
