Hi Leah. When I lived in the Philippines, as a child and visited while in the Navy, I had to shower multiple times per day. The heat and humidity would cause my shirt to stick to me like glue. Unless your in the mountains, the country has two seasons, hot & wet and hotter & wetter. I would choose to live in the mountains. The people have such a positive outlook, that it rubs off on you. Take care.

That's a very good list Leah. I think a lot of these would be true for women too. Of all the excellent qualities you have, and there are quite a few I would say your optimistic outlook and your sense of humor are at the top of the list. The problem with being kind to everyone is some will see it as a weakness and try to take advantage of your kindness. Some people can make it very hard to be kind too. It can be quite difficult to smell good when you're outside sweating your butt off. Having to constantly give compliments can get exhausting, and if you do it all the time and forget one time, it's going to cause an argument. Also giving compliments all the time makes them lose the special sentiment behind them. The problem with sense of humor is without knowing and understanding the foreigners culture, their witticisms, sarcasm, how they twist words to have a different meaning etc. things may not be funny to her, like if he makes a joke about a redneck, but she doesn't know what a redneck is, it's not going to be funny.

Love is not complicated. It doesn't need fancy words or some kind of Science formula...the secret is a Good Heart...any woman of any culture can see this clearly....Think about this....how do blind people fall in love..? I worked at one of biggest blind center in California and here is what I learned from them...those that are married or in a relationship with another blind person fell in love with the connection they felt from the Heart..like two magnet's...all of them said the same thing.....He/She had a good Heart...

Being in a good relationship is when two people love and compliment each other, lifting each up, supporting one another and always being honest and be able to talk things out especially if there is a disagreement..Hygiene is also extremely important, loyalty and integrity is the a MUST! Being open minded, humble and playful is also very important. Learn each other’s individuals needs and wants so you in tune within one another

I am super confident and most people think I am not humble because of it. Yet, I don't think I am above anyone and I treat everyone with respect. Yet, most people hate my confidence. I am not arrogant but I am a go getter. So, perhaps Filipinas will not find me humble. I know culture plays a huge part in the way they view others. Yet, I am kind to everyone. I tip service workers if they do a good job. I have a great relationship with my mom, yet I disregard most of her advice.

It’s ok to be confident that is a good trait. It’s more about how you express that confidence that can be viewed as negative. You have to be carful that you don’t appear to be bragging or boasting even if you know you aren’t. It’s how others view your behaviour that can be problematic. I’ll give you an example - I was with a Filipino friend of mine at his parents house and something needed fixing. Now I was confident that I could fix it by myself since I had done it before at my house. Rather than say anything like that I went to his father and ASKED if I could take a look. Then I suggested to him that “with his help” WE could probably fix it. After “we” fixed it I thanked him for letting me “help” HIM fix it. I told him that I had learned something from him and definitely couldn’t have done it by myself. Later in front of his friends and family I spoke about how he had let me help him and he had taught me a few things and I appreciated it. Sometimes it’s how you present things. Cheers

One thing I would like to add is that when you come from another Country and Culture, you will smell different when you sweat than the locals. It takes about two weeks of eating local food to get all of that smell off of you.

We Men usually call it Cologne not really perfume, perfume is a feminine for a woman. FYI, Men LOVE a pretty smelling woman with sweet smelling perfume , & I Love it when I can smell there shampoo too still from them bathing earlier.

it's easy to turn on a woman.... the mystery is to keep her ON. 😆 - if you're too good they get bored and leave you or cheat on you, - if you're too bad they get afraid and leave you - if you're too romantic, they get used to it and eventually the magic wears out and get bored - if you're not romantic they get insecure and seek romance from another guy 😆

I agree that you have to have a sense of humor. But as a foreigner you have to be careful. What is funny for us does not translate the same way to a Filipina. First let her get to know you try to explain to her if you say something but she gets offended by all misunderstands. There will be many misunderstandings with any relationship but when you're with someone that the culture is different and the language is different and things do not translate the same it becomes a little bit more difficult. My advice is let her get to know you better before you start getting with a normal sarcasm and joking like we do here in the states. Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong about this
