I've been using the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 as my daily driver for the last 6 months, and how I feel about it today versus how I felt about it before I used it is totally different.

A couple of things that would piss me off , the crease , I don't have to put up with that on a slab phone. Also the narrow form factor which for some one with big fingers and large ish hands makes typing on the front narrow screen unbearable meaning the device nearly always has to be opened up. Also, no S pen function on the front screen. As for durability , i don't mean to be argumentative, but 6 months is still nearly new , i'm still rocking my S8+ at 5 years old and it is still pristine and works like a beauty , also my note 9, Also pristine and looks like it will see 5 years out also no worries. seeing the screen protector on the fold failing at 6 months , how much longer will the bending screen last ? I would not be optimistic it would last a year or 1.5 years out , and these things cost a small fortune. You couldn't pay me to own a fold.

There are settings for the keyboard and you can have a split layout on the inner screen which makes typing much easier & better. Great video 👍 I basically felt the same after using my Fold2 for a while. The main cam is actually really good as it's the same as on the S21 only tele and ultra-wide are subpar.

I got the Fold 3 when it came out and I was so excited. After using it not so much. The top screen is so small and acts like it's own phone. Apps run differently on the top vs the bigger screen. The aspect ratio on both screens are horrible. Not worth paying for to have black bars while watching anything. Yes you can expand the picture but then you lose some of the screen. You chop peoples heads off or you cant see whats going on the sides of the screen. Plus there are apps that don't like the screen ratio and don't run right. Over all it's nice 3 out of 5 stars.I went and got the S22 Ultra and I'm very happy.

Swyping on the front screen helps a lot, and with the larger screen instead of the full keyboard, resize it to about half size but a little wider than the cover screen makes it so you can type/swype with one hand with even better accuracy than on the cover screen. Then for more typing intensive episodes I use a bt keyboard

my personal points ( had it since last September) sketchy sounds when unfolding but not issues at all, just started getting the protector popping off now. big tip for me is remembering that unfolded is the main way it was built and only having it folded on travel and quick responses. Gboard is updating for foldable phones and tablets for split keyboard. so I'm very excited for. Great review and glad to see someone with the same mindset

I've had Fold 3 since it came out. I LOVE it & Can't go back, Won't go back to a regular phone! Everythg you said is spot on. It being narrow means less drops for me. First phone Ive not used a popsocket to keep from dropping it. Battery life is not an issue for me. Considering I use it to work on & instead of grabing my surface or going to my desktop, it shocks me battery last at least 14 to 16 hrs before charging. Like you, I open & shut it so many times a day and I'm not doing it with kit gloves. The Fold crease has not increased over the past year like I thgt it might. Screen protector is like the day I got it. My ONLY issue is- I do wish it would hold the SPen. Thanks for a great video. You nailed it! 👏

I’ve only seen it once in someone’s hand at an angle and from that moment I know it was time to switch from my note 10 plus to a folding phone. I didn’t notice the crease and that was the first thing I looked for. For an iPhone or Apple user to give praise for anything else is huge. I’m hoping the keyboard is fixed as I agree I text my life away.

My Z Fold 3 dropped out of my pocket as I was getting out of a van. It dropped onto concrete and my life flashed before my eyes. I picked it up fearing the worst, and honestly, there's one very tiny faint dent (very very faint) on the left bezel of the cover screen, and you would only ever notice it if I pointed it out to you and you held it at the right angle in the right light.

My screen protector never peeled tho (Environment prolly have something to do with it, I'm in Australia) I've dropped it many times, from my shorts, more than my S10+ (my last phone) probably because it's heavy and thin. Just watched your "wrong about the Z fold 3" vid. (1st of your vids I've watched.) I've had mine about 3mos, replacing the Note 10+ with a zeroLemon battery case. You addressed almost all of my initial concerns. Weight & size: it fits my hand much better than any big phone on the market. & I can one-hand it unfolded. Weight is actually a bit less than I was used to. Battery life: setting it at 85% somehow stopped it dying on me. Camera: I added "open camera" app. That & the system update that added a lot of the 22 Ultra camera options - I'm more than happy w/the pix. I can tweak & almost duplicate what my sister & her daughter (the photographer) can do w/ their 22 Ultra. Resolution is the only continuing distraction. Keyboard: designed for the stylus, not a finger. HOWEVER, I have discovered that using the "sliding finger" to type is even easier than using the stylus/pen (which I have used for 5 yrs on the Note(s).) Once you try it, you rarely have typos. EXCEPT: I have multiple language keyboards installed & it routinely slides into Spanish. And its logic then misspells common words trying to make them Spanish. But yes, until I learned the "swipe type", the mis-types were horrendous. S Pen: I have purchased 4 & lost 3. (Not the Plus). Because they don't store in the phone, they are at best problematic. S Pen Plus is so large i'm not even comfortable trying to learn it. So at $99@ that was wasted $$$. And with the keyboard & fingertip, not even really needed. CAVEAT: The initial phone I received directly from Samsung killed a single pixel cell on the inside screen within 2 weeks. The repair shops all say "Its a known issue that is deemed to be damage." Interestingly, no one I know with a replacement that did not come directly from Samsung, or that purchased from anyone but Samsung, has had that issue. (There is no way I could have created the damage in the way they described- it was fine &clean. & it was folded in a zipped, inside coat, chest pocket behind a cloth shoulder bag. No bouncing, no dirt, no hits.) Thank you. (Try the swipe keyboard technique. You'll love it.)

Completely agree. Would just add launcher options as another disadvantage. As someone who loves to create personal layouts and designs, its a shame that custom launchers like Nova aren't properly supported (more an issue with the third party launchers than it is a Samsung one though). Other than that, using the Z Fold 3 has really raised the bar in terms of the user experience and usability.

Z Fold 3 hasn't raised the bar. My Galaxy S22 Ultra can literally see more content during web browsing, gaming, and watching movies. Samsung keeps using garbage aspect ratios on both displays of the Z Fold 2 and 3. At least the 1st gen Galaxy Fold's 4.6-inch outer display had a 21:9 aspect ratio just like the Huawei Mate X2. Such a step backwards with the Z Fold series having 5:4 aspect ratio while the Galaxy Tab S7 and S8 series all have 16:10 aspect ratio. Makes no sense. The Galaxy Flex S should come out and hopefully it'll take a shit all over the Z Fold series.

@@PSYCHOV3N0M when it comes to video consumption, I'd understand that the additional height on the S22 would fill out the screen a lot better. Especially, with the odd aspect ratio of the z fold 3 as you mentioned. But it's hard to believe that the z fold 3 wouldn't have more real estate for things like Web browsing, gaming, and especially multitasking. That being said, I haven't personally tried the S22, but coming from the S21 ultra, I definitely feel like I'm benefitting from the extra real estate. In terms of the bar that is being raised, I'm speaking more in terms of pushing the limits for general consumer electronics. I think it's important for companies to continue to innovate and compete with designs and technologies. The galaxy s flex is just another example of that. I feel like because of how well received the z fold 3 was, companies have this new baseline to look at and continue to explore and push the limits.

For 3 years, I rocked the Huawei Mate 20x, a 7.2 inch device with a beast of a battery. Unfortunately, my carrier forced me 2 switch my phone on March 25th. At 1st, I was so unsure abt this device but now, I like it so much. The battery is not as strong as the Huawei but it's still good. I didn't realize this was the 3rd gen until after buying it lol and I'm glad this one is my 1st experience w/a foldable..so many ppl ask me what is it lol. Yes, it feels like a kinda heavy tank & I don't mind at all. Since I don't have a need for super expensive Fort Knox cases, I invested in beautiful, well made Burga cases which are currently buy 2, get 2 free which equates to 50% off each case (check em out). I hope everyone enjoys their Z Fold 3 as well.

this is literally my situation. the 20x was an awesome phone. one of the best I've owned. best battery ever. fast charging. still think huawei makes the best phones in terms of hardware. fold 3 charging is poor by comparison, battery bit sucky as well but power saving mode helps. but big beautiful screen. decent enough camera. I also got the burga cases but slippery compared to Samsung silicon cases...prettier. loving my fold 3 still. it's all about the screen size.

I like this take, and MrMobile's take on Foldable phones. Most people, as used, complain about this phone without having even used one at all, but you guys just showed us that they might actually be worth it, and that there isn't much to worry about. Also, big thumbs up for this video, most reviewers are just doing like "initial impressions" videos, but this one took time and dedication and is actually very informative and useful.

I use the floating keyboard with swipe gestures. Makes going so fast and easy on the large phone. Works well on the front display as well to avoid typing at the bottom of the long phone

The display of a phone is actually one of the most important things to me (Size and refresh rate, but not resolution as I dont even see a difference between 1440p and 1080p on a 32" screen) and so I'm gonna buy a folding phone if I get my hands on the money.

Had my Z fold 3 for 14 months. It's replaced my TV, kindle, tablet. Replaced screen protector, easy. Suits me well. I'm still looking for a dependable dashboard mount for open mode when needing to use GPS.

Great video!!! Will you be going back? I’m on the iPhone 12 Pro max. My first iPhone. And I miss Android. But not sure to get the fold out the note. I’m drawn to the bigger screen (anime reading and content watching) but I’ve always had and used the spen.

I love my fold 3. It's not heavy to imo. I went to best buy and held iPhone 13 pro max an it felt lite and kinda small. I have average size fat fingers. The front display can be a bit small for less than a handful of apps. The typing experience is a bit problematic because of the fact I have a case on it. But, otherwise it's the best phablet I've ever owned. PS, I could care less about the cameras, I only use them for taking upclose pictures of my dispatch info for the shipper since I'm a truck driver. If need something better to take pictures with, then I'll grab my s21 ultra.

For the keyboard in tablet mode I have the keys split. I find it very useful and I'm able to type normal speed. You should give it a try. The first day was kind of weird but then it made sense. Definitely would recommend typing that way than full screen. Keeps you from holding it a weird way trying to type full screen, when you can just have it half on the left and the other half on the right.

I agree with everything you said. The issues that you talked about that people who don't have one complain about are basically nonissues. However, I also have been struggling with an incredible number of typos. I thought it was just me. It's something about the phone size that makes it hard for me to hit the lowest row of keys without inadvertently hitting the spacebar. My Fold 3 has been so awesome though that I just learned to live with it.
