Come along as we take a photo walk at the J.W. Cooper Building, Shenandoah, PA. This old building with its pealing paint and exposed brick, make a beautiful backdrop in our quest for finding quality images.

I use to spend my grammar school vacations in Shenandoah/Lost Creek#2 and loved every minute of it. That was way back in the late 50's early 60's. All the Aunts & Uncles have passed away. I loved the nick names of some of them. Uncle Francis as called Shife and Uncle John was called Speed, I wanna go back!!!

There is a lot of history in those mountains. My father grew up in the little town of Trevrrton. I can remember visiting my grandmother there in the 50's.

“No Place Like Home”! Only left the area to seek employment in Flushing, Queens, NY. West Mahanoy Township area outside of Shenandoah was where my family home was. Relatives, also. Memories! My 2 (of 3) sisters cried when we saw a vacant lot where our parish, St. George’s Lithuanian Roman Catholic Church stood, demolished in 2010 by the Archdiocese of Allentown. 💔🙏🏼 Now, in NJ (for jobs), we visit family gravesites in the Heights. I have my own tombstone already set up by parents final resting places.). We get kielbasy (DELIC) at Kolawanik’s Kielbasy Shop. (Spell???). Love you Schuylkill County! 👌🏼

I graduated from J.W. Cooper in 1969. It was great to see your video. I had a tour of it a few years back, so much work needs to be done. A monumental task for sure. The classrooms seem much smaller now than how I remembered it. Not sure if the town now with a population around 5,000 can support whatever businesses might go in there!

Thanks Ron for the comments. It is a photographers paradise for sure. If anyone ca bring the building back, I believe it's the current owners.

Yes Steve the current owner gave me the tour and I was impressed with the plans he has for it. I know it needed so many windows of which many were replaced but I think vandalism is still a problem!

I remember when the Class of '76 had the coat drive for the Community of Shenandoah on all of those chairs in the auditorium! It was so rewarding! The chairs were filled from the community filling them as we picked up all of them! And people came in droves to get coats!!!

Hey Greg, thanks for your feed back. I usefully do say what equipment I use but didn't on this video. I use a Feisel CT-33724V for my stills photos. This is a carbon fiber tripod and gets the job done. For a tripod head, I outfitting the Feisel with a Really Right Stuff head. model BH-55. B&H Photo has this ball head for $489.00. I used cheeper heads in the past but got tired of their poor or weak engineering. With this head, I set the camera where I want it and give the large knob a 1/4 turn and it's looked down and doesn't move when I take my hands away. Thanks for asking.
