Your tutorials are awesome! You explain everything so well and speak so clearly, that 80% of the time, I just follow your instructions by hearing the audio...great job, Marty! I've paid good money to several online tutorial sites and that's how I learned Photoshop, but your free tutorials really kick their ass any day of the week...If you still don't have them, please consider making comprehensive Photoshop tuts for people who want to start off with this awesome software. Hey fantastic video I almost had it fully but got lost at the end 8:56 my star burst shape doesn't come out like yours, I made sure I had all the settings correct. Ima go on to the next video and see how it comes out without it

it would be a great help if you could just tell me what is happening at 9:11 . in my photoshop at this point i am stuck , because in this point i am not seeing the dotted line for selection for shape.. could you tell me what will i do ??

Go to windows, check the shapes option. on the new shape window that appears, go to more options(3 horizontal lines) choose legacy shapes and more

at 5:36 when I go to make a color overlay it changes the whole thing to pink not just the swirls

the latest Ps 24.6 nolonger has legacy shapes - how do you re-enable the legacy shape so I can select "registration target 2" shape?

oh ok i found it, from Window option select Shapes and then Legacy Shapes and More... they'll be added back in the Custom Shapes tool...

I've been trying to do the frame (with rounded rectangle tool) but it has been imposible. It makes the frame but when i do the stroke path step nothing happens. I have the CS6, and it seems to work differently. Do you know what might be the problem? Thank u. Love your videos.

The problem could be one of many reasons. Sorry, but one would have to inspect your document to narrow it down.

Maybe check the opacity or other settings on your pencil tool. I was having trouble here too, until I realized that my pencil was set to 28% opacity

The distort > twirl option is greyed out for me, and I'm using RGB, 8-bit, and even reset all my preferences. Is there anything I can do?

I love this. I have Photoshop CC 2014. I have followed your instructions exactly. However, @7:27, when I double-click on the frame layer, then click on "color overlay", nothing changes on the layer-style. The frame itself goes gray, it doesn't change, and stays on "Blending Options"/ "General Options". "Colour Overlay" does not come up. I can't click on the colour box, as there isn't one. Please help, as I'm stuck. edit: I have just updated to CC 2015, and the right thing still doesn't come up!

+ElizabethR1558 Is your Image Mode, RGB color? Go to Image > Mode > RGB color, 8 bits/Channel.

+Blue Lightning TV Edit: I've just found what I need to do! I clicked on the "+" sign on "colour overlay" (not just ticked it), and the "colour overlay" thing appeared! (How weird was that?) Thanks. :-)

My burst looks different than that, and the setting options are different than yours. It's giving me the same options as before (unconstrained, etc). It's not working. I have Photoshop CC 2021.

Nevermind! Thanks to a comment below, I got it to work. I followed these instructions and reduced the ratio to 30% and got the same effect. T Nh 7 months ago (edited) for photoshop 2021 ive found th closet approximation to th tutorial is: polygon tool > choose pixel from drop down menu > 99 sides > gear icon > choose star ratio percentage, lower the more star-y > check 'from center' option > get similar effect. (mess around w th other options in th gear menu, tho ive been using th unconstrained option)

I could have chosen shapes as well, however, since the photo is raster-based, I decided to make everything pixel-based.

I have photoshop cc 2021 and when I'm at the step to indent the sides by 70% (8:46) that's not an option. I've been trying to figure out how to indent the sides of the shape forever help :(

Is that field, grayed out ? If so, make sure the correct layer is active. Also, go to Image > Mode > RGB color, 8 bits/Channel.

Problem in CS6 at 6:45: when I pull rounded rectangle tool from upper left to lower right > right click on path > click "stroke path" making sure pencil is shown and simulate pressure not checked > OK > I get bubbles following the path which appear to be about 300px wide. They are the color of my foreground color. Obviously they are following the path. I have no idea how to fix this. Can you please help me?

+David Evans It could be your pencil's tip shape "spacing". Press the F5 key at the top of your keyboard to open the "Brush" panel. Click "Brush Tip Shape" near the upper, left corner of the panel. On the lower right, make sure "Spacing" is no more than 25%.

Thats ok ive installed express its a lighter version bt it has bug different from the actual one and also i tried to download adobe photoshop for my windows pc i paused since it consumed almost 6gb of my mobile data
