When considered separately, the interpretation of movements are at least good. But they contradict with each other. Listen the 1st movement. His tempo is a reserved one, he has clear articulation and a certain expression. But when he comes to second mov. and although the mov. itself possesses a title "Andante cantabile con espressione", he very much plays in a so to say Gould approach (ok not as mechanical but still) There is so many to get from the development of the 2nd mov. (check Barenboim) but he rushes them. And 3rd mov. is no Presto anymore. It lacks the fire inherent in the music. Thanks for the upload. As a video I think it is a gem.

Ik twijfel of het tempo juist is (gaande zingend met uitdrukkingskracht) maar ik doe deze uitspraak met enige terughoudendheid want Richter heeft me in zijn uitvoeringen al vaker op mijn ongelijk gewezen. Hij weet altijd weer diepere lagen te openbaren. In ieder geval weet Richter altijd een verrassend inzicht en licht te werpen op wat hij ook speelt en in dat opzicht is hij (zoals vele van zijn collegae) volstrekt uniek.

onthult richter hier de ware geest van dit deel?
