Would you consider doing a care video on gerbils? I’d love to learn more, I don’t know anything about gerbils! That amount of bedding they need is crazy!!

Addie Saavedra they really don’t need that much bedding. Usually 1.5 bag of the care fresh is perfect. You want it deep enough for them to be able to dig and that’s about it. Its nicer to add more since it gives them more bedding to make tunnels but generally if I remember correctly it just needs to be half of their cage full

I would love to use carefresh for my gerbils but its just so expensive. In the UK it costs £7 ($8.86) for a full pack and you used 5 packs there so it would cost me £35 or $44 which is an insane amount to spend on bedding everytime I clean, which is around once a fortnight. I use shavings instead, and one bale costs me £4.50 ($5.70) and I use between 1 and 2 bales each clean. I know you shouldn't get a pet if you can't afford them but my bank account was screaming in pain watching this! No hate though I love your videos

@@ramey1742 Gerbils are burrowing animals so they need several inches of bedding. If you have a tank that is properly sized, you should only spot clean once a week (remove soiled bedding and throw it in the trash, but leave the rest). A full clean where you remove and throw out all the bedding is only necessary every 1-2 months, at most. Soiled bedding can be thrown in the trash.

I currently have my gerbils in this wooden setup. www.wayfair.ca/pet/pdp/tucker-murphy-pet-fir-wood-hamster-cage-mouse-rats-small-animal-exercise-play-house-3-tier-with-slide-activity-centre-c001856376.html?st=1 Its absolutely massive, and they love it. So far, they have not started chewing the wood panelling, but they have started to chew the little shelving Corners, as well as the ramps. Because the walls are straight, I don't believe it's as easy for them to chew as the edging on the shelving , so depending on your setup you might be okay. It is quite scary when you hear them chewing wood though! It's been about 2 weeks but I have had this habitat, and the frame has stayed okay.

I’m confused. Do you have to do this every week? Let’s say a bag of the bedding is 5 dollars. Will that be 5 dollars I’m spending every week. And also do I just get rid of their old bedding, if I do how should I properly dispose it?

Well I was only wondering because it’s such a big cage and has so much bedding if she changes it every month and a half or two months because it would take much longer to get that much bedding dirty

Love how you care for your gerbils. If you see what i saw ,you would freak out .I went to some petstore and i saw 3 gerbils in tank cage with dimension of a A4 paper.Thats just sadistic.Plus there wasn't enough bedding.Same with the 3fully grown Syrian hamesters kept in such tiny cage. For them ,the tiny tales which we call tiny ,would be 100 times better.I don't now how that petstore owner has licence. Not to mention that one year ago when i buyed two degus, they told that it was chincilla and sold me critter cage with them. Its just horrible. But first of all the country that i live in is small developing and the mentality of people is just 200 years ago. They don't give damn about animals. In my country almost no one buys animals from petstore. They judged me when i byued degus that they are rats, they are dirty, they are pests, that i have no friends because i buy pet.......So happy for you that you are not like that and the people in your country are more sofisticated and obviously not living millennium ago.Keep up the good work.Im just furious of the gerbils cage because that is torture.Basicaly the entire cage in which 3 gerbils are cuddling and don't have space, should be the size of hidehouse for only one gerbils.Im furious.I wanted to help them but maybe they were I'll and old and plus they were only shaking from the cold and sleeping and didn't have the space to move from each other and burrow and it was just sad.Im still very young to confront the owner and plus if i buy them to save them ,the petstore sells incredible ridiculously tiny cage so i don't have where to keep them, and probably they are stressed and I'll and not tamed, because for sure owner that don't know the name of the animal he's keeping ,he surely doesn't know to tame them.I would pray for them😥😷🤒👿

Nikola Ivanovski I fucking hate pet stores. The place I bought my buck from had the rabbits in such a horrible condition I almost brought some of my own stuff to make their temporary stay better. Not even an inch of pine shavings. Smelled horrible and poop everywhere. Where I bought my gerbil had like 10 in the size enclosure I have my one gerbil. 10 gerbils in. 35-40 gal tank with an inch of bedding and a single igloo. I felt so horrible. Also ik the whole adopt don’t shop but there are no rescues in my area unfortunately

@@legend485 in mine too there isn't adoption shelters, but no every petstore is like ones we saw fortunately.I just saved two Syrian hamster from one awful petshop that in it's FB profile it says that is the oldest in my country and the petshop is really proud of itself and I'm ashamed that such petshop is the ,,best"in my country😷

It’s hard to keep my gerbils entertained I put wheels tubes everything in the cage but they just chew then so all the have in there cage is food water and cardboard nothing and when we make the sawdust like 7 inches deep they don’t even build secret tunnels and stuff underneath

Your Black and white Gerbil looks like one of mine...she's called Cola. She has to sisters, Fanta and Spezi which are light brown with the same white patterns as Cola and dark brown which is the so called "wild"-coloring.

I would love to use Carefresh but it is so dang expensive in the US it is like 20 bucks for a tiny bag. Not everybody has all of that money for this, you used like 7 bags in one cage clean that like at least almost 150 bucks.
