In the early morning we are treated to a beautiful sunrise in the Greek town of Sitia. We prepare the Sling High Wing for its next flight towards the first African country, Egypt. Our routing first takes us to the coastal city of Marsa Matruh, to clear customs on this part military airport. Once our passports are stamped, we fly on course to the capitol city Cairo. We are even able to fly overhead the great pyramids of Giza! The next day we explore the city of Cairo, guided by 2 local friends.
This is episode 4 of the Long way South Series; a 6 week journey flying the new Sling High Wing aircraft from The Netherlands to South-Africa.

Petting the dog at the end brought a tear to my eye. In my travels to other countries, it's sad to see so many stray dogs that need food and love. Great travel video.

So far it seems speaking English is going to take care of all the ATC communication from Europe to Egypt. Most of the ATC instructions are quite similar to American ones. Definitely an excellent general aviation live tour and inspiration for the private pilots👍

English is the international standard for ATC and the format is also standard globally. Some exceptions (Russia) but most counties follow the Chicago conventions rules.
