FUEL PROBLEMS in EGYPT - Long Way South E05

After driving through morning rushhour traffic in Cairo we made our way to the October 6th airport. Everything seemed good to go until the airport officials refused to give us the fuel we needed. After making a new plan, we raced the setting sun to make it to Aswan before dark.
This is episode 5 of the Long way South Series; a 6 week journey flying the new Sling High Wing aircraft from The Netherlands to South-Africa.

I am the ATC served you in Abu-Simbel during your landing and your departure , I was very glad that you liked our service , we tried to manage everything quickly as soon as possible just after you switched our tower frequency , and we are very happy you made it to Aswan before the sunset 👍💪 , One more thing Sorry for the late landing clearance 🤦🏻‍♂️ , Me and my colleague our eyes got used to The A320 / B738 all the time no offense 🙏 , so we barely caught you after it was too late 🙆🏻‍♂️ , hope to see you soon one more time in Egypt , but this time in Hurghada as we got promoted to Radar and serving there for a while until now , this time I promise I will got you insight earlier this time 😂 , I love your channel it’s really full of challenges , and good content , fly safe 🙏

Next time tell the refueler that you will need to call him back for fuel again later.. Then when the fuel truck is gone, you siphone with a pipe the fuel from the wing tanks to the canisters.Put the canisters in the aircraft and call back the fuel truck to refuel. When the fuel truck comes again it is a good idea to tip him a 20$ bill before he refuels 2nd time. Another option if you have range is to land in Aqaba (OJAQ), great service and a tail wind from Aqaba to Djibouti(HDAM). Love your videos...keep posting :)

In Greece refueling from jerry cans is also prohibited in organized airports. In fact one of the planes I use to fly went total loss because of fire during illegal refueling from jerry cans due to bad grounding...After that things got even more strict.

For food, have a look at Huel. Can be prepared with water and contains everything you need. Bringing a bag of it might help if you are running out of time.

Tjees wat een gedoe, knap dat jullie zo rustig/positief blijven. Ik vlieg voorlopig maar niet naar Egypte. Bovendien ben ik blij dat ik er gewoon EUR98 in kan gooien, dat scheel de helft.
