Johnny Depp returns to his iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow in an action-packed adventure. Crossing paths with the enigmatic Angelica (Penélope Cruz), he's not sure if it's love-or if she's a ruthless con artist who's using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the "Queen Anne's Revenge," the ship of the legendary pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn't know whom to fear more: Blackbeard or Angelica, with whom he shares a mysterious past. The international cast includes franchise vets Geoffrey Rush as the vengeful Captain Hector Barbossa and Kevin R. McNally as Captain Jack's longtime comrade Joshamee Gibbs, plus Sam Claflin as a stalwart missionary and Astrid Bergès-Frisbey as a mysterious mermaid.

Might be intended to be a Coral Snake (at 0:56) Angelica thrusts at Jack, being a very poisonous tropical species, but it's really a harmless Milk Snake, which also gets much larger than Corals do. I thought it funny, recalling the rhyming phrase used to discern the stripe pattern difference between the two: "Red and yellow, kill a fellow. Red and black, friend of JACK!"

this film's getting negative reviews beacause critics are too busy comparing it to the other installments rather than reviewing it as a film in its own right. trust me if you just forget the other films then you'll really enjoy it. and in terms of the new faces, elizabeth swan and will turner are dead weight characters in comparison with angelica and blackbeard. and now the focus is a lot more on jack sparrow and barbossa which is great. much better than the last two films.

I highly advise everybody to read the book behind this movie. "On stranger tides," by Tim Powers is the greatest book I've ever read. When I found out that Disney bought the rights to it in order to make a fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie, I was sad, because now this is what people will remember when the hear the name: "On stranger tides." It truly is an exellent book. I hope they keep most of the original story and characters, and I just want to recommend the book.

I felt bad for Angelica at the end of this film Jack betrayed her 3 times 1. Jack left and corrupted her making her a pirate( typical Jack) 2. killed her farther after she spent so long trying to spare his soul ( I'm actually happy he is dead, but I really didn't fingd him as bad as the writers said, Davy was badder) 3. Marooned her on an island the way Barbossa did to Jack, except she used her one shot to try and shot Jack. I hope if there is another film, Jack will HOPEFULLY change.

@tomaspeverell,that is your opinion,I saw the movie and I loved it! And I gonna tell you more at the end of the movie the people clapped ,and you can't say that about JS ! Come on..he is the best part ,I love him! If I have to say the truth ,this one is better than the last one,really.I'd like to see it again, for Johnny ,..he is so hot!

@moviemusicfan10011 tbh i kinda lost interest after the first film, but jack remained awesome in all of them. despite...slightly weak storylines, he kept it interesting. my opinion though, pirates aren't really my scene (apart from jack xD)

Angelica is quite a gifted pirate. She should not be compared to other characters, she's different. She only appeared in the 4th film and they ruined her character, she is not a villian. Lord Beckett from 3rd film was more of a villian, he was after Captain Jack Sparrow and killed Elizabeth's father . so spare Angelica, her own father Blackbeard is the villian , he tried to kill mermaids. Angelica and Jack have good chemistry . Angelica is not like Elizabeth, Elizabeth belongs with Will Turner son of Bill Turner of Davy Jones Crew. Davy Jones was a dangerous man to cross.

@TheEznore Well actually you are right about that, but I mean that was quite a few years ago. She seems to be much more humble and even a lot more moral now. I'm not liking the Buddhist faith she holds, but I do think that she's made some positive changes in her life. Now I just pray she would turn to Christ, that would truly make me extremely joyous. I care more for her soul than her career. So yea, I actually do agree with you to an extent. She looks good though haha ;)

@moviemusicfan10011 i know!!!! i never cared for will & lizzie they drove me nuts with all their 'WILL' 'ELIZABETH' i will kill you and do the most awful things to get 'WILL' and i will too to get 'ELIZABETH' ugh it wasted so much time!!! and it was disgusting the way there were always obsessed with each other........but the pirate 3 was ok.......they didn't bring too much of it in the story

This movie sucks. I'm sorry, but I won't pretend it's good just because it has Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow in it(and JS is starting to suck a bit, now). The first two films are AWESOME and I will always be a fan of them, but At World's End and On Stranger Tides simply and plainly SUCK!!!
