Thank u so much for airing these gems all the time! Got rid of my Netflix only enjoy these old films, so well done, superb acting and not one of them needs all the disgusting amounts of sex, foul language that goes beyond obnoxious nor all the unnecessary violence…& not every other show is dedicated to women with women n men w men and 8 year olds that want sex changes and so on…. Just a little toooo over the top now. They proved their points they support the community blah blah blah it’s all fine but, no need to put it in every single show or movie these days!!! We got it already. These are just normal no agenda , just a great story line with a plot! Thank u so much

Robinson was great as an investigator in a crime drama! He was magnificent in "Double Indemnity" as the insurance investigator with his "little man." He should've been cast in more crime dramas; he was very good in the genre. Edward G. Robinson's last movie was "Soylent Green" (1973) appearing alongside Charlton Heston. Robinson gave a good performance, but it was a waste of his still-formidable acting talents.

This is one of the BEST FILMS EVER!! Thank You for showing what real movies were actually like. With real plots real actors that stood up and fought for America in their work and in the Military when they KNEW AMERICA IS THE GREATEST COUNTRY THE WORLD HAS EVER KNOWN. These actors then would have torn down Hollywood and anyone else that tried to destroy America. Try to imagine ANY of these actors allowing a foreign country any country to take over Hollywood, and allow the biggest enemy and HATER of the US, china control the entire film industry. To disrespect the Flag they fought and died for and to allow perversion to become the only thing that comes out of Hollywood today. Especially of children and to promote slavery and genocide and to destroy civil rights that people like Dr. Martin Luther King and many others of ALL Races fought and died for. Most of all when America was really the "Home Of The Brave". Thank You for Posting this movie.

There's no such thing as ahead of its time. It's made for its time and it's stood the test of time. Alot of our profound statements about society made in the past weren't predicting anything. They were just pointing out things that no one cared about then but which later generations will not shut up about.

This film captures the artistry of the film noire…lighting…shadows…eyes. Of all the mesmerizing scenes (and there are so many) the two I find most chilling are the dinner table monologue where Wells talks about the necessity for Nazism as though he was reciting a recipe for the perfect cake. No histrionics….no soap box rabble rousing speech. It’s his calmness that makes it that much more terrifying. Finally, the scene in the clock tower with Loretta and Robinson hot on his heels. Only then did I understand the significance of the clock and his almost obsession with it….his fear of running out of time. Oh yes! Wells covered every detail. Bravo!

Oh, yes. This was back when actors were more than actors -- they were storytellers. Many of them were schooled in the Thespian method with a concrete grasp of the classics, especially Shakespeare. Others got their start in Vaudeville and/or the "Great White Way," then graduated to the Silver Screen. By contrast, today's 21st-Century "actors" are nothing more than mouthpieces, automatons. Shove a script in their faces and they'll perform admirably. Without a script, they're dumbfounded. They have no skills of their own.

One of the best Noir films ever made. You can watch this dozens of times in your life and never get tired of it. That is cinematic greatness! I first saw this in 1959 when I was 5. My mom told me about each one of the actors. My dad was an actor (stage) and my mom a movie buff. She even knew the bit players and had stories about them. She saw Noir when they were new releases!

At last Orson Welles' amazing talent was recognised by the public for the genius he was and this movie was his only real box office hit. Its success was helped by the fact that it was made directly after the war in 1946 when there was great interest about Nazis both at the Nuremberg Trials and, more critically, the fate of Nazis who had simply vanished after the war.

Welles, at his worst, was far better than anyone else. Hearst and Hollywood moguls deprived us of much work that would have been done by one of our greatest artists. We only have a few, but those few are treasures.

Hearst was mocked beautifully by Welles in citizen Kaine. Here's and a little unknown fact the word rosebud was a shot at Hearst cause he was into anal sex with his woman and he bragged he loved their "rosebud"

It's remarkable how much Orson Welles owe to, or is inspired by, German Expressionism, in contrast to the US production of that time (faces close-up, shadows...) He's camera is also very mobile... And the rich multilayered sound track, which adds this anguish sentiment, is used later by Godard.

The only reason Orson even agreed to make this movie was to prove that his movies COULD turn a profit. That's amazing to me. He really didn't care about this movie at all and yet it is still so well made.

@@robertdesantis6205 That is another very good movie. "The Magnificent Amberson's" and "Touch of Evil" are other very good films. Citizen Kane was the first one and for Orson Welles a great career. Even his early role on vintage radio of "The Shadow" is also excellent. The radio work of Orson Welles is oftentimes overlooked, but he did some great radio shows including the "Black Museum" and "The Adventures of Harry Lime", which was a radio take-off of "The Third Man".

@@robertdesantis6205 "War of the World's" is certainly a good example of mass hysteria, and fits it now with this Wuhan Virus mania! Not that it isn't real, but not to the extent the news media is making it out to be when other "FLU's" in past years killed far more people. Orson Welles is a prophet and he just may have opened some new ways of seeing what ig going on in the news media these days. Same hysteria in 1938 when he broadcast the "War of the Worlds" and now that program is considered one of the biggest hoaxes ever perputrated on people through the means of mass media.
