The main rule for being an entrant country to Eurovision is that if you can't afford to pay for it if you win...you can't enter. I thought this years had some better songs than some previous years. I just think we should demand the BBC stop paying to automatically be an entrant. Our song this year was rubbish as normal. But each year we pay and each year we're shafted.

Really enjoying Plank of the Week again now we're having different panellists again. Interesting that generally Plank of the Week episodes are shorter than they were when Dawn and Kevin were on every week because each episode had at least 15 minutes of those two just going on at one another.

The only Eurovision song I liked was Lordi, 'Hard Rock Hallelujah'. As for the rest of it, the only thing that ever made that show watchable was Terry Wogan's snarky comments. Once he was gone, there was no point.

Listen as he says "they're not going to be in it until at least next year, presumably, and who knows we might not even be here then". So my suspicious mind wonders about that throw-away comment. Does he know something ? Is he implying Plank Of The Week will not be around next year, or even worse, Talk Radio, or even worse, Mike jumping ship.

Mike should add a section for honourable (or dishonourable) mentions for those who showed plankery during the week but couldn't get into the top nine because of the stiff competition. I'm thinking of that 19 year old "doctor" who made the RSPB apologise for having a bird chart where the females were depiced as smaller than the males. Mike had a separate post for this where he discussed it with Brendan O'Neill. The RSPB should also get an honourable mention for the apology.
