Plasterboarding the dormer

This is a quick video showing how we plasterboard a room - the work as a pair with one of us measuring and cutting the boards, both of us lifting them in place and using a deadman to hold them up, and then the other person screwing them in position.
We do the ceiling first and then work our way down the walls - we find that starting at the top and working down is best and makes the job go quicker, although I know some people prefer to do it from the bottom up.
In the bathroom we used moisture resistant plasterboard.

no insulation? no soundproofing? no moisture barrier? regular plasterboard?

Thanks for all the great informative videos. When do you put the insulation in between the ends of the roof joists (above the walls behind the fascia)? Also what are you using for a vapour barrier? Cheers, keep them coming.

Very informative and so well explained as usual, I have learn a lot, specially about building regs. Nice idea about the mixer away from the shower head. What short of system are you going to use for the wet room? Painted sealant? Waterproof felt? Is it ok to tile directly over wood/metal beam or needs another solid material in between?

Cheers mate, really appreciate the positive comments! There's a waterproof membrane which goes down on the floor first before the tiling adhesive. We also floated over the steel beam with a load of plasterboard adhesive, to make it easier for the tiler. The rest is simply tiled around the walls and floor, and on the floor in the shower is a former which is like a waterproof tray, but it gets tiled over.

Yeah that's what I'm doing in my own loft...client's call on their home, so can only advise, rather than push.

@@OfficeBoyBuilder Indeed, that said I've never come to terms with clients trying to be penny wise and pound stupid. A little extra on concrete board would be cheap insurance.

Nice job. Did you calculate the area on paper first or do you just order a round number of boards based on experience? The total is 112sq m so I guess that must include some wastage. Must be a fine line between having too many and even worse not enough! Also in a perfect world would you prefer to do ceiling with 6 by 3's on account of the reduced weight???

It's a little bit of both - calculate the M2 area and divide that by the area of a single board. Then add a couple of extra boards for wastage and cuts etc. The weight wasn't too bad really, for the ceiling joists - you kind of get used to it...! I'm doing an extension at the moment (videos in edit!) And I've got to used 8x3's and some of them are over 6.6m!!
