@FestiveScholar It was good, but after seeing a few vinyl wrap videos, I took off the red Plasti-Dip and put on blood red vinyl from Vivid. (Yep, that's the color name... it actually matches the '68 Camaro script emblems I already had on left & right fenders.)

Running boards were probably the least successful due to the fact constant contact increased the friction and likelihood of issues. I had extra plastidip left over so was worth a shot.

Hi Matthew. I did the wheels and bumpers, but unfortunately I sold this truck a while back. The wheels turned out great though. I wouldn’t do the bumpers again, but I’ve done wheels on several cars without any issues.

Deqoure Sayles still holding up well. You can add clear coat for even more protection.

Nope, it won't damage the paint. Folks have been using it for a decade with no issues.

Super Squid the emblems turned out awesome! I don’t know if I want to do do dip for bumpers though. Seen some videos, but I am thinking I’d prefer white as well, so paint to match might be harder with summit white. I’ve also got some quotes from wrap folks vs just having dealer paint.

Ross Kirschbaum that’s fair. If you’re going for a white out you definitely want the match, my truck is blue so I wasn’t too concerned with the shade of black and it all came together nicely

You've already likely finished your project since it's been three months, but I think I ended up using around 4 cans (including running boards). How many did your project take?

Definitely: just put your tape over the areas you don’t want dipped and then paint the areas you do.

Jeremy DeCoudres no, I haven’t reapplied at all on my wheels and it’s been 3 years. The key is to build up the coats (6 coats) when you do it the first time. That ensures good coverage and thickness. It will hold up well with normal use. Good luck with your project !

@@FestiveScholar thanks! I saw some videos saying to remove right after the last coat when it’s wet. How long did you wait between each 6 coats to reapply?

@@bdeck4368 generally with paint and tape, yes you would want to remove when it’s wet to ensure you have a clean line. Since plastidip is pliable you’re not going to have an issue either way. Your first few coats are going to dry quickly - but really depends on your location. I’m in Houston where it’s always at least 80 degrees most days and sunny so it dries a lot quicker. Follow the manufacturer suggestions on whichever product you use and you won’t have any issues. I think most recommended 30 mins between coats, but mine dried a lot quicker than that.

jdprogang11 one can is more than enough to do just the emblems . The running boards were 2 cans each side for the coverage level I wanted.
