Nice! I'm working on a microtuner/sequencer for external synths that works just through pure data at the moment. Does your solution send pitchbend info before the note hits or at the same time? Also, for polyphony, does your device automatically switch between midi channels for each note so that the pitchbend for each note is preserved until the note stops sounding? Many thanks!

Hi, MIDI is a serial protocol, so pitch bend cannot technically hit at the same time. For polyphony, yes, each note has to be played on its own MIDI channel because pitch bend is a channel message.

Wow you can actually use this to make a microtonal scale. But you have to change it with software? I dont normally use midi. Thanks

Hi, yes, the Plastic Pitch is designed for making custom microtonal scales using MIDI. The Pure Data patch shown in this video is optional. It gives the user a way to see what the numerical tuning settings are. Sonoclast I'm new to using synths. how would you make a microtonal version of an existing preset and still have the original one?

@@sambana88 Depending on the selected mode, the Plastic Pitch uses MIDI pitch bend or MIDI real-time tuning messages to tune. These are real time control messages and are not typically saved in a preset.
