uhh would a CV source like Pamelas Workout work to trigger the notes out of sequence? if so how?

Hey, the MAFD 2hp uses MIDI notes to select the order of the sequence. Not very familiar with Pamela's Workout, but it does not appear to send MIDI, so no.

No, the MAFD does not depend on an audio interface. You just need something that can send MIDI notes to the MAFD, either by MIDI cable or as USB host (a computer, as shown in this video). Hope that helps!

Can you make the mod wheel output bipolar so you can use lfo via midi?
@Sonoclast

Hi, not sure I'm following what you want to do. The MAFD CV can only do 0 to +5V. It sounds like you're saying you would use a midi generated lfo. The mod wheel output would do that but the lfo would be in the range of 0 to +5V. --Kevin

@@Sonoclast I understand. is it possible in a later firmware update that it could output -5 to +5 volts like my Black lfo? Or is it a hardware limitation? I love the MAFD. it came with my DFAM from the guy I purchased it from. He did not even have it hooked up. It makes the DFAM awesome. I clock mine from reason using the Drum Sequencer device. I made several presets so i can run 16th, 8th, and quarters. I add in subdivisions for easy ratcheting. It is always in time with my DAW. Cool. Can the RFAM output be multed to control two DFAMs? Can you explain how this is working? Will it work at any tempo?
@Sonoclast
@Sonoclast Жыл бұрын
Hey, there's only one DFAM here, but the following signal path works just the same as the relatively low tempos shown in the video: Sweeping the whole range by hand of a 0-coast audio rate square wave > driving the clock of Metropolis > triggering clock and reset of RFD > output to Doepfer A180-3 buffered mult > buffered output to DFAM. The DFAM stays in sync as the Metopolis sequence length changes from 9 to 15. Presumably another DFAM could be driven in sync via the buffered mult.

@Sonoclast

At minimum, 2hp would require a smaller button and chips with smaller footprints. The larger button is a design choice to match the buttons on a DFAM, and using larger footprint chips is a function of the current global semiconductor (lack of) supply situation we are in.

Arrived today! This absolutely completes the DFAM! I can see the step leds flashing as it skips, but can't hear anything and the timing sounds perfect. The first thing I did was put in a random sequence of notes going up and down the chromatic scale looping at 7 beats in my akai force, added some reverb and delay and it sounds like a full track without any extra sounds, because the playhead moves around it brings so much variety to the pattern, and because it's a polyrhythm it sounds like it's ever evolving!

@@Sonoclast OK cool, thanks! vDo you always have to reset the DFAM sequencer position when you stop the external clock (in my case, a deluge), or is it irrelevant - as in, the note information from your DAW/ external sequencer always triggers the correct sequence position on the DFAM (Hope I explained that well!)?

@@simonmorton3746 No, the manual sync lasts as long as it’s all powered on. Also it defaults to middle C as the first step. So if you turn it on with adv/clock already connected and hit run on the DFAM before sending MIDI notes, then it won’t require the manual sync step.

With the daw its pretty annoying to press stop, advance to 8th, to make it start from the start. TNX!
