You seriously need to look into things when it comes to availability and cost of items around the country. At the very least, give prices for the versions in your area. Most of the Dollar Trees that I have been to do not have refrigerators or freezers. You better than most people should know that $1 salmon is probably the worst type of salmon available including probably being farm raised. Is that really clean keto? Pasture raised eggs are not cheap. It is not terrible, if you can spread them out. I think that I have seen grass fed grass finished beef. If so, it is extremely rare to find around here. Just grass fed beef is rare to find and costs 1.5 to 2 times as much as regular beef. You compared peanuts and macadamia nuts. Around here, i can get peanuts at less than $2 per pound. Macadamia nuts are $8.99 for 12 oz. You don't sound very professional in these types of videos, when you don't mention important facts.

Does anyone know the answer to this? He’ s said a few times on the grocery hauls that “this bacon has a negligible amount of sugar, it will burn of” how much is negligible? I'll pause the video and make a comment just a minute into it because I can say from absolute experience that you CANNOT eat anywhere nearly as cheaply on grass fed meat or pasture fed eggs. I live in food jeopardy as do millions of people right now during this pandemic. I depend on a food pantry to get enough food for the month and I take what I get from them and it's not grass-fed anything. I also get $25/month in SNAP benefits and there is no way I can justify the premium price demanded for grass fed meat or eggs ($3-4 for a dozen free range eggs vs. 75 cents--that's a no brainer). As President Obama used to say, don't let the perfect become the enemy of the good. "Dirty" keto as significantly improved my health resulting in a 40 pound weight loss, over 20% of my body weight, as well as other benefits such as getting off of my 4 hypertension meds. So for me, dirty keto is better than no keto at all.

My best to you. I am blessed to have the means to buy most of this. However, organic, pasture-raised eggs are the most difficult items to find. They only have them at Whole Foods, which is an hour from me. Does anyone want to comment on just how damaging it is to eat non-pasture-raised eggs?
@MK-hh1vo

@@sethmann6397 I feel the difference immediately. Cheap eggs from tortured chickens give me cramps and diarrhea. Eggs from cared for chickens don't have the same effect. I can find affordable, edible eggs at Trader Joe's; anything less than $3 per dozen won't work for me. But I choose to spend top $ on eggs from the local farmers market; $6 for a dozen large. Worth every penny, to me.

I told my doctor I was doing intermittent fasting, no reaction. I told him I was doing low-carb too and he said “stay away from keto, very difficult to get proper nutrition”. I have lost around 19 pounds in approximately three weeks and I eat a bowl full of berries every day as my only carb. I eat two eggs a day, I buy the pasture raised for extra nutrition. you can do very well without being on a clean keto diet, you simply avoid processed sugars, processed grains, veg. oils and super sweet fruits. It’s also amazing how you can increase the quality of your food by just avoiding all the other crap like fast food, junk food, cable TV or whatever. it’s all about putting the priority on good health instead of your sweet tooth or your unhealthy focus on saving every penny and buying cheap food but justifying your movie channel obsession.🤷🏼

Primal Kitchen uses avacado oil, but it is expensive. I don't think it has a goid flavor profile. I've tried a few flavors. I'd rather make my own with olive or avacado oil, good vinegars, like ACV or white vinegar, add garlic, and more garlic, good himalayan or celtic sea salt, Nu Salt, oregano, Italian spices, paprika, very finely minced vidalia onions. If I think the salad needs more sweet, I add berries to the salad. I can always add monk fruit sweetener to the dressing but ACV has a sweetness. Homemade dressing is very inexpensive & tastes better than most store bought dressings, anyway. Plus, I don't have to worry about the garbage oils!

I’m probably 80-90% clean, but my dirty choices are deliberate. I LIKE Hellmann’s mayo and I HATE avocado mayo. I use packaged shredded cheeses in casseroles, etc about half the time for convenience and just count the extra carb or two. And I’m careful about the rest of my cheeses and always grate my own Parm or buy one particular brand that is pure grated Parmesan with no fillers. I sometimes use some commercial salad dressings but generally stick to ones with olive oil or EVOO and a bit of canola as a blend. I figure I don’t eat a lot of it and if I don’t want to make my dressing that day, it means I’m still eating a good salad at least. And I have never found a commercial one I like that’s “clean.” Oh, and the one thing I do that’s terrible that I just can’t seem to kick, is bottled tea with artificial sweetener. I HATE water and I hate carbonated, flavored water and I hate stevia - Zevia makes me sick. So I just roll with it. I don’t do all of these every day or even every week, but I’ve been keto for 11 years (except for going off the reservation for awhile during the pandemic 😞) and I know I couldn’t/wouldn’t have stayed keto without these things. I agree wholeheartedly with Thomas that if it’s just an even trade-off for you, always choose the cleaner version. But if a couple of small concessions keep you with the program, I say choose your dirty elements wisely and balance them out over time.

Hi Thomas, I learnt the hard way that you can’t mix dairy and sources of iron in the same meal, esp doing OMAD or Keto. I became anemic, which I haven’t been since I was 7 and I’m 52 now. I would love a video detailing the importance of food choices for their mineral/vitamins and foods to avoid because they stop their absorption. Like I said, I learnt the hard way. I think it would be very informative for those new to Keto or some form of Intermittent Fasting.

@@asmysarasan Because: 1. Chickpeas are high on carbs. And sure, they might work for me, as I'm a very active person and I can eat up to 100g of carbs and still be in ketosis. For fat-loss and weight management it makes very little difference. Most of the difference will come with long-term health but most of the health benefits come from being lean in general so focus more on doing what keeps you at a healthy weight. This whole clean vs dirty is really just majoring in the minors and will probably not make enough of a difference to matter but hey Thomas has to put out content to pay the bills- know what i mean? General Mills also has a "keto friendly" yogurt named ":ratio" 200 calories, fat 15g, protein 15g, carb 2g for 5.3 oz container. The only thing is it's sweetened with sucralose which has a bit of an aftertaste, instead of one of the usual keto sweeteners like stevia, erythritol or monk fruit. Has live and active cultures, and no weird chemical ingredients. The yogurt itself is pretty good, in my opinion, other than the bit of aftertaste, and is very thick and creamy, better to me than Greek yogurt, which I don't really like. Comes in strawberry, black cherry, vanilla, and coconut flavors.

I think the point is to identify areas where we can do better, not necessarily to fixate on having a 100% clean keto. My takeaway here is to find 1-2 items I can eliminate and switch to a better alternative. Personally, although I’ve cut down, I haven’t given up diet sodas even though I know they are really bad for me. Sure, maybe I can’t afford pasture raised eggs right now, but there’s still a very good underlying principle here.
