Thank you for this video and your help in purchasing the part for our toilet. We live in a historic district and something like maintaining the original toilet (which also happens to be the same one that Mamie Eisenhower had at their Gettysburg farm) adds to the charm of our home. The plumber said we needed to replace it, but thanks to you we didn't have to!

Thanks for explaining what those 3 rubber plugs were for, that helped me since mine were leaking a few years after I installed this kit. I eliminated them now and sealed those holes so this problem will not happen again. The chlorine in the water breaks down the rubber. The disk is available, but I could not find the plugs separately so I used some epoxy putty to fix it permanently. I'd like to suggest that idea to others doing the installation.

My lever goes up, flushes, but goes vertical and doesn't fall back down on its own. It will fall if the water level is low though.

That's strange sounds like maybe the stop in the handle is broken. Not sure, would need to see a video or something

@@ming8678 wow, this was 2 years ago. I think I had to get a new little chain, mine was too short and pulled it up too high. If it gets pulled open too high it won't fall back down on its own sometimes.

we have installed this and we are not able to adjust the chain correctly. We have shortend the chain as much as possible, but it does not lift the unit high enough to stay up for flushing. Please help.

It sounds like you have the wrong handle. The original handle is only 4 inches. Some people pick up a generic replacement handle and it's 8 inches and lifts it UP. ITS SUPPOSED TO PULL IT OVER.

You did a FANTASTIC job EXPLAINING HOW to put this together and I’ve done ALL of that already...My PROBLEM it’s STILL LEAKING , I bought ALL NEW PARTS including the fill valve but not the brass ring that attaches to the ceramic bowl .... I’m assuming it’s got something to do with the gasket ( Is there a particular way it’s supposed to fit underneath the brass piece ? The one I took off looks like it had a red ring , the new one does not )

The OEM version has a black ring, almost oval shaped. Make sure your refill tube coming from the fill valve is not shoved too far down the overflow, this can cause Siphoning. Some of these models had a built in china overflow in the corner making it difficult to connect the hose to.

what is the difference between a 4, 5 and 6 ? ALSO > why are there two different ones in height, one is short and the other is taller ? My flapper don't go back down..

How do I determine if I have the #4, #5, or the #6 flush valve? Don't see it marked and haven't been able to find description.

O ring gasket durometer is too hard. You really can't get a good seal to the ceramic tank without silicone caulk. Also the mechanism for the black rubber flapper allows for no possible angular alignment. It also does not seal properly without silicon grease. I'm waiting for a new design. Got anything?

No new designs, and I don't expect one either. This fits a 50 to 60 year old one piece toilet so if they haven't improved since then I'm sure they won't ever

@@PlumbingPartsPro How do you get good seal so the fill valve doesn't have to fill periotically? I've thought to switch to a plastic assembly to eliminate corrosion of seat which is a problem over time. Any thoughts?

@@johnwhitehead5457 the plastic seat is slightly taller and has a tall actuator which would require the replacement of the handle as well in order to flush properly. I haven't had a lot of issues with this system leaking. Make sure you are using genuine parts and not hardware store Danco brands. The rubber quality is not as good with cheaper brands
