The anime's direction change... good or bad?

imagine if both professors end up being canon... arven can become even more tragic by losing both of his biological parents AND both of his robot parents

This is a brilliant change of pace for Pokemon Horizons, going to school and taking classes instead of traveling around the world all the time. This'll be just like with Sun and Moon.

Interestingly, Meowscarada is the most popular of the Paldea starters, followed by Fuecoco, so not only is it not a surprise that Sprigatito evolved, bringing us closer to that, but it also leaves us wondering if we will actually see Fuecoco evolve eventually.

I think this could be like a necessary training arc for the kids, like how Orange Islands and Sun and Moon were for Ash. We know Liko’s mum is a teacher, so maybe she helped arrange this so the kids would be ready to take on the rest of the Legendary Hero’s Pokémon and help get them and Terapagos to Rakua while also protecting them from the Explorers. They won’t always be able to just wait for Friede, Charizard and Cap to save them, after all. Also, I’m really excited about anime Grusha and Rika!

Regarding the uniform, to be fair, Liko is the only one out of Roy & Dot to have had initially physically gone to school as it seems Roy & Dot have done everything online & long-distance. Since Liko was & is still is an Indigo Academy Student; maybe it'll be this way to distinguish her as an Exchange Student.

I like this direction & its nice to see Dot in a school uniform. Although Arven & Penny haven't been shown, I'm sure they'll appear. I could see interesting interactions between Liko & Arven, as well as Roy & Nemona. And I don't need to explain why I think Dot & Penny would be good school friends. Also, since I think Liko's mom is a teacher at the Academy, we'll likely see interactions between them as well. There's so much that could happen, April is going to be an amazing month for sure.

I'm excited for this Arc! Unlike Journeys and it's lack of Galar adventures, it looks like Horizons with spend a lot of time in Paldea. I hope one of them, or all of them at least participate in Gym Battles.

All and all way I say it Horizions isn't a bad series far from it I've been following the series since it started by watching the Japanese dub And whilst I have not yet seen episode 43 of the 42 episodes I have seen individually out of 10 a lot of them have been 9 or higher With only 1 episode scoring a 5 or less and second lowest being just below a 9 My biggest issue is Roy's Wattrel more specifically the lack of focus on it as most episodes Wattrel is either absent entirely outside of the intro and outro or barely makes a background cameo when eating with the other pokemon. I've also seen a tone of comments online Trash talking the show and it's clear that 90% of the comments are people who didn't even watch it. One person said the scene where Ladlow used Quagsires Surf attack to break through a wall of wild pokemon whilst sailing on the wave claimed that and I quote "This is clearly from some dumb unnecessary filler episode it's so bad" Had they actually watched the episode they'd of known that it was from when Liko found her ancestors Lapras the 4th of 7 pokemon her ancestor cared for alongside Terapagos, Galarian Moltres and Arbolivia to join Liko As of right now Rayquaza, Kleavor and Entei are the only unaccounted for members still out there. Comments like that are just idiots who decided to hate the series souly for the fact that Ash isn't in it I miss Ash too but just because he's not in the series doesn't mean its bad as by that logic shouldn't all of the mini series that he wasn't in of failed as well? If you haven't watched pokemon Horizions you are missing out give it a shot it grows on you Liko, Roy and Dot still have a long way to go but we're not even 50 episodes in.

Dangit! I had hoped that because the mini series is Naranja, We'd get Uva Academy in Horizons. The Anime truly hates Violet. I'm at least glad to See Liko at the Paldean school. The first few episodes made me fear that Paldea would be screwed like Galar

I kinda assumed that the reason they made it set in the Naranja academy (and by extension Scarlet) is because in Pokespe they have it set in Uva academy (Violet)

Both professors are canon due to Arven. With some changes it could work. A team of dead beat parents studying the past & future via their time machine in Area zero.

I love that Liko and Roy might have to earn their Tera orbs through a training arc, but in the game Nemona just gives you one

I was thinking maybe Friede would be a substitute teacher- Murdoch work in the cafeteria, Molly helping Miriam in the 'nurse's office'. The are Liko's body guards, after all.

I just hope the Rising Volt Tacklers also get a lot of screentime in this new arc because I really like all of them.

I personally believe the reason why the anime went from "travelling around the world" to "Go to school in Paldea" is due to production reasons. Unlike how many anime viewers might think, anime episodes don[t just um... pop out within a week. In fact, with an insight of anime production, we know that usually anime plot needs to be planned around one year before airing. (Note "usually", I know the team plasma plot was altered in BW, but they definitely didn't just make new plot out of nowhere, rather simply just moved future fillers ahead.) With this concept in mind, this actually makes them not possible to make Naranja Academy anime from Episode1... because we were very unclear about any details in the school before SV launch. If the anime studio wanted to do that episode 1, then TPC will have to give them detailed settings about the academy, including all the teachers (which everyone except Jacq and Clavell was not revealed before launch) and possibly a bunch of new Paldea Pokemon (which was also quite limited revealed before launch.) In contrast, the anime we actually got featured very little Gen9 stuff in the first couple episodes. New Pokemon only being the starters, Pawmi, Ceruledge, and Terapagos. This made sure that the spoilers (to the anime studio) for the actual Base SV game was minimum, and also they could use Terapagos debut in the anime to tease the following up DLC, which had no chance of spoiling the actual game. What I want to say is this result is due to a marketing strategy and production consideration, as they do not want to spill the real meat of the game to the anime studios. If you are somehow not convinced by what I just said, we can look back Gens 7 and 8 which similar things can be noticed. The SwSh in game plot (which is the 2 doggies fighting Eternatus) was also not revealed before launch. This plot aired in the anime around Episode 42, which is approximately the time for the anime studio to start plan this plot into the anime when the game launches. The SM in game plot (about Nebby and the ultra beast mommy) also started around episode 44, which also lines up with what I said.

I wouldn't be too confident on the anime staying around school. Since the whole base plot of Scarlet/Violet was the "Treasure Hunt" (a.k.a. go and find your own adventure out there).

Considering how Ash only went to school after traveling through 6 different regions, I think this order of events in Horizons is perfectly normal for the Pokémon franchise 😂

I'm excited for the new direction, just makes me wonder if we'll see the Teal Mask or Indigo Disk make appearances because those 2 together could make a good little 10 episode mini arc and Keiran would be a good rival character to either Liko or Roy (more so Roy since Ogrepon taking a liking to him would balance out with Liko already having Terapogos). If we're in Paldea for a bit, I just need Liko to get a Charcadet so she can eventually challenge Amethio. And please let there be a Rhyme episode. It would be hilarious, and she's a double battle expert

This reminds me of the old Pokemon ranger game. Shadows of Almia I think. Where the protagonist speny most of his/her mission at school before going out in the real world. Its weird to see the anime do the opposite since SV also started from school.

Why should just sada appear? Ceruledge exists, in both the manga and anime both paradoxes exist. It just seems the school is the big change

While I'm a little annoyed that Liko's Sprig evilving was spoiled, as one of the things I love about evolution in the anime is the unpredictability and emotional rush that comes with a Pomemon's evolution, its cool that 1) Paldea is getting more love and focus with this arc alongside the many characters that live in it, 2) yay Nemona is back and even Arven too!, and 3) more Horizons is always a win in my book. I'm genuinely excited for the new chapter and what it can potentially bring story and lore wise.

I believe that both Professor Sada AND Professor Turo are canon in the anime. The reason is that the current story from the games prevents both past paradox pokemon (such as Koraidon) and future paradox pokemon (such as Miraidon) from coexisting in the same reality, as the time machine in the games is either connected only to the past or only to the future, not both. It is a shame for the anime to not include any paradox pokemon or to only include Scarlet's past paradox pokemon. Furthermore, the Team Rocket specials that aired before Horizons premiered has the titular team encounter both Koraidon AND Miraidon - both past and future paradox pokemon are anime canon! The best way for this to happen is to confirm that both Professor Sada AND Professor Turo are Arven's parents, and to change one Major aspect from the games: their seperation. In both Scarlet & Violet, Arven's parents broke up when he was very young, so each game has only one Professor and only one kind of paradox mons.The anime however could undo this breakup, keeping Sada & Turo's relationship alive so that they both would take turns between using the time machine at Area Zero and looking after Arven at Poco Path lighthouse. This would allow both kinds of paradox mons to coexist, and Arven would have a more positive upbringing compared to his games equivalent. The anime has been known to completely rewrite characters & stories from the games. Just look at Lusamine from Sun & Moon.

I have watched the recent episode last Friday and the reason why they are in school make so much sense now.

Am I the only one who likes Turo far more than Sada mainly because of design and I think the futuristic designs are more interesting? I think Sada and Turo are probably both canon but we don't know how they would implement that.

With last week's episode, they have a VERY good reason why they're temporarily attending Naranja Academy since they LITERALLY can't leave the region until the Brave Asagi is repaired.

honestly even if scarlet is the cannon i'm betting they are going to be showing both Sada and turo :) which means both ancient and futuristic pokemon :) however i have a feeling we'll be seeing the explorers showing up a lot due to them still trying to find the ancient pokeball pokemon and the fact of letting liko and the others do their work for them but it would be cool to see them all get warned about that intent from the explores by allies

Hm, how very interesting, I was going to ask if this Arc were going to take place after when the whole Six Heroes has been resolved, but based on what you’re suggesting, i guess this new Arc will take place while the Six Heroes Plot is still ongoing, but i think we’ll have to wait and see to know for sure about that. By the way, with this I kind of would like to see Dot and Poppy met each other, i think it would be quite interesting to see what would happen if Poppy’s Tinkaton and Dot’s Tinkatink were to met, maybe they could become Mentor & Mentee or maybe they just end up becoming straight up Rivals, i just hope they meet. Also, i will be looking forward to see how Liko’s Relationship with Floragato will be like and to see what eventually got them to that point. Also, also, Question: do you think the Starter Trio(Liko, Roy & Dot) will get anymore Pokémon or is Two Each the limit? Just wondering and if you think it isn’t the limit, perhaps a Prediction Video on what Pokémon will be next to join could be in order, if you’re doing those that is?

To people who think they gonna use old formula of collecting gym and participate in pokemon league tournament, i think this is not the case, these saga is focusing on their training development, the last time they challenge gym leader (roy facing brassius and kabu) fuecoco learn something new, so yeah these saga is needes to avoid "plot armor" Thingy, and after these saga finished, they gonna focusing on lucius pokemon and rakua

Overdue that even 4Kids would not take that long altering any anime they had. Orio has the best character design in the new anime. The Ken Sugimori art style inspired by Akira Toriyama is still great, and should be the standard in Pokémon for better recognition. Satoshi would have completed his Paldea assignment since his treasure would be Pikachu. A school setting is a bad idea in a series about journeys and battles with friends and monsters.
