In Japanese the move "sunny day" is called "Clear Sky". So what it's likely doing is removing any cloud that may be blocking sunlight.

I always thought it was doing that, plus creating a "baby sun" as a satellite to gain power from. Considering it amplifies the abilities of grass and fire types. And that would naturally cause those clouds to evaporate

Lockstin had a whole video on what even a mini-Black Hole could do, the inevitable worldwide doom a tiny sun could do terrifies me! You're right, the whole "lens-like atmosphere increase" theory falls apart when its used at night but... It's not just a jet of flame, that's creating a self-perpetuating point of light... hovering overhead... constantly spewing energy.... see, this is why I don't make Sunny Day teams!

I'd like to see a "Every Normal type move" because Normal is often used as a "Typeless" Type, and you get things like Hyperbeam in the same category as Tackle

I wish he realized that angle of Normal-type when talking about all Normal-type Pokémon...There were so many that would fall in the "typeless" category due to the ability to change their type in some way (Ditto, Eevee, Porygon line, Castform, Kecleon, Arceus, and Type: Null/Silvally). Smeargle could also sort of count with Sketch being a means to replicate virtually ANY other move.

For burn up, it could be that the user uses all of its stored fire magic to create the ultimate burn. So afterwards they can't call upon it for the rest of the battle. I also like to imagine that any exposed flames on the user's body would go out and smoke.

@@alexandradordzhieva3835 To add to that, if I recall correctly, during the Vulpix episode of the first season, Misty also stated that she loves Fire Pokemon. Plus she also mentioned that certain Bug types like Butterfree and Ledyba don't bother her because they're cute/pretty. Volcarona being the most beautiful Bug type, yes I am biased I love Volcarona, I wouldn't be surprised if Misty loved it too.

Fun fact- in one pokemon episode of Sun and Moon, Rotom Dex explained that when pokemon are about to use a fire type move, a fire ball is developed inside the pokemon by combining chemicals with fire power to use fire moves either physical or special.

Do "shadow" type moves eventually. They seem like a corrupt magic type. Dragon controls magic, fairies use the natural flow of magic, and shadow types use the corrupt unnatural flow of magic. With shadow pokemon released into GO could there be a new 19th type of pokemon, or a new shadow pokemon game like XD or Coliseum

well a lot of the shadow moves are corrupted versions of normal moves.. aka Shadow blitz=tackle Shadow rush Coloseeum version, I don't kno if rush is the same in XD) is Take down Shadow End is Double edge Shadow storm is more or less a stronger version of Twister Shadow blast is Aeroblast Shadow fire is fire blast Shadow ice is ice beam shadow thunder is thunder or thunderbolt

The forest fire thing led me to think of pine cones which THEN led me to a move idea. What if the Pineco (and maybe ferroseed) line could learn a special flaming bullet seed like move (since pine cones release seeds when on fire and stuff. Am I remembering that correctly? Maybe, maybe not)

So about sunny day, I live in Texas, and Texas is known to be very hot, around 90° a day on average most of the year, but like most places it's reasonably humid when it's hot, which makes it miserable, but not painful. Sunny day is more likely similar to what I've experienced in Mexico, where it is blistering hot, dry, and there is hardly a breeze, under these conditions you will feel like your smoldering, and because it is so dry it is far safer to wear long sleeves and wide brimmed hats, as your skin oil will quickly dry out leaving you susceptible to burns all over your body. In short, sunny day is likely hot and dry.

You forgot to mention that Sunny Day allows Solar Beam to be used instantly. Also, when Fire Pledge is followed by Water Pledge, it boosts the latter's power and creates a rainbow that doubles the chances of secondary effects on the user's side of the battlefield for four turns.

Fire Blast doesn't make the word 火(Fire), it makes the word 大 (Large, Great) in fact 大 is pronounced as "dai" and the Japanese name of Fire Blast is daimonji (だいもんじ) and monji meaning character or alphabet, so the meaning of the move can refer to the face the move is making the 大 character/word

It's weird cause, while I will always choose Grass Types as my starter, I _really_ love fire types... But, I think I have experienced first and second-degree burns. One time because the sunscreen I was using wasn't waterproof and my family and I were spending a day at a _Water park_ and the other because a rogue spark from sparklers hit my wrist, and I've had the remanence of a blister since.

Omg, i’ve just realised something. When pokemon “die” in battle, they faint. And i just got to the part of the video where he talked about Reshiram and Zekrom’s signature moves. He said that fusion flare is double the power if used after fusion bolt because it hurts more. What if pokemon battles are just about causing enough pain to your opponent for them to faint?

Uhm... yes, that is what they have been... that's just how they are, but apparently sleeping doesnt count as fainting. Reminds me of how this kid in hoenn said: "You should try *PARALYZING, POISONING, BURNING* or putting your opponent to sleep to help you win!" I don't know why pokemon consider us friends if we put them in battles where they black out all the time and catch fire, become poisoned or paralyzed/frozen to where they are unable to move (and in fights, pokemon don't die) (also, you were just joking about that, right? Sincere apologies if you were actually being serious)

Bit late here, but fun fact! Indigenous folks living in the forested areas both practiced and recommended those controlled burns on underbrush you talked about- they were scoffed at and i'm like 80% sure the government had those tight laws passed to keep them from being able to maintain the land. So who knew! The folks who were here first knew a lot more about how to keep forests healthy and safe than the people who marched in and took all of it. Interesting Stuff!
