well chat talks about it, it is made for a younger audience and most people don’t play the game for 5 hours at a time so the flashbacks are great for those people. but they’re definitely goofy for people like smant. 🤣

@@chadcolson7193 Yeah, honestly. I think the flashbacks are well-utilised, but it's definitely a lil spammy for how recent some of those are, which is definitely meant for the kids. Which, many of us were back when we played it! But not this guy, doing voices the whole way through, lol

they are also quite annoying when replaying nowadays, but hey, its just a few minutes of button mashing, so its ok :D

Also the flashbacks come after save points. So if you put the game down for a bit and pick it up again, its a reminder

Agreed. I accepted Turtwig being ruined by the annoying chat joke but then it spread to other characters. Makes it hard to enjoy a good story.

Very much agreed, not to shit on anyone's ambition to work on voice acting, because I love seeing people learn how to embody a character. But having 70% of 4-5 hour videos be an intentionally annoying voice is cringe and very hard to listen to

Gotta admit, Loudred was hella funny though.

I think he genuinely enjoyed it. He‘s not a story gamer though if that isn‘t obvious with the games he‘s usually playing and speedrunning. And you gotta admit the dialogue in this game really repeats things too much so that 8 year olds don‘t forget what has just been said. The flashbacks are the cherry on top. He said himself the game would be perfect if it weren‘t for all these flashbacks. I think for someone like him who‘s more of a gameplay gamer it can just get really annoying when story scenes get stretched out so much by characters repeating things over and over and flashbacks. He skipped some dialogue in this too saying „yeah yeah we know that already“. I still believe him when he said he enjoyed the game and said the plot twist in the future with the player being Grovyle‘s partner was good and he was genuinely surprised. For not being a story gamer he still enjoyed it for what‘s it‘s worth I think. And from a gameplay perspective he was really good. People keep saying he was overleveled and while that may be true for a few levels that wasn‘t what made his playthrough so easy. Sure he was also lucky to not encounter a single monster house in Temporal Tower but he also just used items really well throughout the whole game and didn‘t just try to brute force everything with attack moves only. I think this is my favorite first playthrough of someone simply because he actually didn‘t JUST play it for the story but also played the game really well.

I'm pretty sure he said his opinion on story in games in the first mystery dungeon video, something about not being able to get into the story in games or something I'm not 100%.

He definitely enjoyed the game, but sure, I can understand the voices being irritating to some. I can even admit that, as someone who actually enjoyed most of his voices, he could've probably done with 1 or 2 less of his jokey voices. At least, Primal Dialga/Dialga at the very end of the game. But he didn't intend to mock the story *at all.* If you want proof: He specifically mentioned the story was an integral part of the game (which is true), and he usually tends to skip through them for many other games. He even talked about how much he loved the music and uses it often in his videos, too. Not to mention how he ardently defended this as a good game, in spite of the insane IGN 4.9/10 rating! It literally took him down a tangent of looking through their reviews, just to shit on them and feel vindicated at how PMD didn't deserve the rating it got. I get it. I understand where you're coming from, but from the content I've seen, he *does* tend to skip through text, and he *isn't* much of a voicer. It's okay to let him enjoy a game how he wants to, and it's okay for him to entertain his chat/viewers to some success, and sure, to some failure. But as fans of a game, we can't assume somebody hates it just because they don't experience it 100% the way we want them to.

It genuinely had a great story, too. Especially to experience as a kid, having some experience with Pokemon games already, I didn't expect as much as I got. Grovyle's loss hit way too damn hard, but made me come to love that mon so much as a result. RIP the GOATvyle
