I kind of prefer the ending in the animated movie, when Tremaine breaks the glass slipper the Grand Duke was holding, think she's won, and then Cinderella's basically like "fool, I have the other glass slipper!"

To be honest, I never got that, because I was like 'what guarantees them it's the same size? What if this random servant girl just as a similar glass slipper, but made to fit her?' Like, they don't know magic was involved, maybe there's some shoemaker out there that makes special, expensive glass slippers? And this girl happened to buy a pair too. I felt like having the step mother break it hurt more emotionally, so it made sense to have it there.

Guys it’s not the shoe size, it’s the fact that the glass was perfectly crafted around her foot with perfect detail, so even if someone had the same shoe size they would’ve at least had differently shaped toes and whatnot.

@@joanne0 not exactly, there's jokes that don't transfer well from country to country when it comes down to specifics that are unique to that country, that's not even including loss in translation when said jokes are in different languages. as someone who speaks english, spanish, and french, it doesn't matter how "genuinely funny" something is, each person in different countries arent going to find humor in the same things, thats not even covering the fact that humor is subjective :)

The funny thing is that the fairy godmother is played by Helena bonham Carter in this movie and in Harry Potter she plays Bellatrix Lestrange so she actually would be a witch in Harry Potter! 😂

@@filmforvictoria44 if I remember correctly, he carried her across the river into that camp, and she was revealed to be Hera. So he did try to help her. But at the end of the book, in a dream, he was reliving that momentn in a dream and because Hera was responsible for all the shit that he went through, he dumped her in the water. So he had a good reason, but he was actually kind enough the first time to the old lady.

Honestly, if I was Cinderella and the stepmother said she'd let me get married to the prince no problem if I promised to make her, what? Fun fact (or maybe not): in the original story, the reason the slipper didn't fit anyone but Cinderella was because Cinderella was extremely malnurished due to her stepmothers treatment, and therefore severely underweight and with very small feet

yeah but I'm sure there are several hundred underweight women with small feet in a whole ass kingdom so that explanation is really not good enough. Really the only thing that could make sense was that the slipper was magical and would change sizes to make sure that nobody else's feet would fit.

@@Stricken-Zero if I remember correctly, glass slipper is actually a misinterpretation, it wasn’t actually a slipper made from glass but from a fancy fabric (vair) that in french sounds like “verre” which means glass..but anyway today we say it’s made from glass in french too because the versions in which it’s written “vair” like the fabric are super old and not the most popular ones

Because the wicked stepmother, despite having all the advantages, and the power, and the cunning, is not happy and cannot achieve her ultimate goal. While the good Cinderella, despite having every disadvantage, and the constant abuse of her stepfamily, has achieved the same goal without ever really trying to earn it, it is basically handed to her on a silver platter by someone even more powerful who noticed her. But she did earn her chance for happiness with her kindness. She was generous with her kindness even at the most trial-some point in her life, and that was all the stepmother would have needed to do to achieve the same thing. But the stepmother allowed herself to become bitter, and that is the essential difference between them.

I've never met anyone who would be that self-aware, so I'm calling bull. It might be their underlying reason, but they would never admit to hurting someone for being "good". Innocent, maybe, if they felt their own innocence was stolen from them. But good? Nah. They've have it twisted in their head into how she thought she was better than them because she had the privilege of acting sweet and playing with mice when they had to be pragmatic and think about their family. They wouldn't see her as good, but as judgy, naive, self-involved and undeserving

people forget that the slipper is straight up magic, and so is the fairy godmother... the reason the slipper only fit Cinderella is because fairy-god-mother would change the size of the slipper so it wouldnt fit other people, or the slipper would change sizes itself....

Kinda, the castle facing us straight on is always Cinderella's. But in the new live action adaptations, like Maleficent and Beauty and the Beast, it will show us the castle from a different angle. From the new perspective, the castle belongs to that princess respectively

In the original Cinderella, the step sisters actually cut their toes so their feet could fit into the shoe and at the end, the step sisters and step mother got their eyes gnawed out. :) all beautiful stories have a scary beginning

I also appreciated that. I love that this Prince cared enough to actually leave the castle and spend his days amongst the people. It's not realistic for the time period, but it's such a nice change from the original. It makes sense for him to be in disguise too, so he can see the true feelings and motives of the people that they're seeing.
