This ATV may be one of the most overlooked monsters in the industry. The Sportsman 800 has massive power with a twin cylinder power plant and brings it to earth with a quick CVT transmission. It literally rides like a Cadillac, has massive ground clearance and yet doesn't feel top heavy. It has 4x4 drive system that truly puts power to ALL four tires. great test video. it would be nice if the 800 stayed around in the value series of polaris value atv line up. hence the next step would be the 850 twin non SP. Should be next also...

Mike, thanks for the comment. As for why they stopped production... I'm not certain of their official reason, but following the money is common sense. The industry is certainly trending toward bigger displacement engines and the increase in the 570 may be enough to help sell more. From what I've heard the newer 570 engine is made by a different manufacture than the 500. We've not tested a 570 yet, but one buyer for the 500 we tested stated that his 570 fouled plugs and he was considering going back to the 500. Remember the 500 was fuel injected prior to the later year models. Having ridden with many fuel injected 500's that were bullet proof, was going back to a carburetor on the latter models just a way to save money or help promote the fuel injected 570? Just some fuel for thought!

Franky Alvarez where are you finding them for that?! I’ll take 2! I’ve been seeing beat up/not maintained ‘08 ish 450 for more than that. Cheapest 800 I’ve seen was almost double that! Wherever you are they have better prices lol.

I've taken my 2006 Sportsman up some gnarly trails. if you want to see my number one look up uphill climb. I love Polaris.

Trying to find out if the guage on a 2012 800 cc Polaris Sportsman displays hrs or miles driven. Also does it brake well without the engine brake system feature. Info would be helpful please.

Yes, it should have both miles and hour gauge. It brakes fine without the engine breaking. Thanks for the comment!

Good thing cause that many hrs would be quite a bit of miles as I was told by the Polaris dealership, not sure how to break it down, but I know he was really trying to get me to buy a brand new one. to buy a brand new one.

Still have a couple more manufactures to ride and review in the lightly used ATV market, but very impressed in the performance of this 800 Sportsman. In the mid 90's I rode with several Polaris guys and they were always tearing up. Polaris has came a long way in a short period of time!

Everything ATV-UTV-Reviews I feel more and more that Polaris has improved leaps and bounds over the awful ATV's they made in the 90's. I always wonder why they stick with the struts up front for all these years.

Kountry Quads great question. The Sportsman rides smoother, although the Brute Force definitely has more get up and go. The 650 Brute is not fuel injected although the later 750 is. Both are fun capable atv's, don't think you could go wrong with either...

Yeah Brute Forces diff have more power but I think the 800's are the better atv? Just my opinion. I've rode both a lot. Sportsman's diff have better ride and command.
