Making the bowl itself. In this video we will use a glass blank to create our bowl. My device did not have enough storage to make this video in one part so it will be in multiple parts, sorry. I did base this off of Kalyana's tutorial linked below, please check her's out since it is where I learned it from and she was awesome enough to let me show you how I used her technique to create these cute little bowls. In the next part I will show you the veneer

Add colored water to the bowl, then set it on a level surface and trace your line. Much easier.

Lay your knife on a stack of books, or whatever, that matches the height of your cut... rotate the bowl into it... can be done upside-down or right-side up... The same can be done with the sharpie for the outside line...

This project is so interesting to watch. I think the shape is wonderful! I can’t wait for part 2 and seeing the finished piece. My current interest is covering empty toilet roll tubes and trying different veneers on those. They make nice pen pots or brush pots.

I wondered about making bowls and other vessels with polymer clay. You’ve answered my questions with a beautiful project. Thanks so much.

I wondered how you made this unique shape! I have several of these bowls (Dollar Tree has them), so I’ll try to make the top and bottom at the same time. I cannot wait to see the next part! Thank you for sharing your time with us!

I have multiple as well but when I did each part on a different bowl it didnt turn out as good one u have to make sure your line is in the exact same spot and the bowls are not different even by a little bit otherwise one bowl will slide inside of the other but feel free to try. I didnt want to risk it for the majority of people

Katie Gordon I’m “hoping” the bowls I have are the same size because they “hopefully” came from the same manufacturing batch! That’s a lot of hoping! I’ll try it-one bowl with a base and the other bowl for the top. Worst case scenario is they don’t fit together and I will do a second baking with a top on the one I made the base and a base on the one I made the top. 😆🤣😂

As I was watching this on KZfaq TV I was compelled to go to my laptop and subscribe to see more of your techniques. As a new Polymer Clay Artist, I am really amazed at the complexity of your techniques which yields such beautiful results, meaning you are so patient . I know you are going to give this a veneer, but I think it is beautiful as is. I love the effects of Mica shifts and accent clays. TFS.

This is so beautiful...and intimidating to a complete newbie lol. I am in awe of the talent you have. I so very badly want to try this but fear I will mess it up and waste so much clay 😢😢 I love the style of your videos and am grateful you created an Amazon list so I can get the same supplies you use. Thank you for the content you create here on KZfaq and for accepting me in your group.

I had not tried making a bowl until these I've only been doing clay for maybe 9 months now and have practiced other things before I attempted a bowl as well it's not as hard as you would think tho

Nope you also did the horrible noise sanding that your dogs don’t like. Very astute of them I just say 😀

Do you always go halfway up? I tried it on much smaller bowls than this one and it broke every time. I am not sure how thick my clay was.

I did on this style some I go really high if it's like a square using good clay keeping a thick base and baking is key
