Folks we are now on INSTAGRAM...GET SNEAK PEAKS BEFORE THE VIDEOS COME OUT...FOLLOW US HERE: stoneyridgefarmer -~-
Just getting out on the farm doing my daily rounds and found that the pond was about to overflow! OMG there was a huge object blocking the pipe flow.....thank goodnes I got there in time, we could have lost the pond!

you need to add a screen to your riser pipes you can buy form pond supply or plumbing store , or just make one out of a larger 24" diameter pipe that extends 24" below water and 12" above

BUILD A SCREEN RING AROUND YOUR INLET TO HOLD THE DEBRIS BACK TO 1 FOOT FROM THE OUTSIDE OF THE PIPE ALLOWS THE WATER TO FLOW UP UNDER THE SCREEN YET HOLDING BACK THE DEBRIS. LOVE YER VIDS.

Put some better Galv Steel around the pipes to avoid bigger objects to clogged your pipes up.

Have you considered installing a emergency overflow? Dams should have a overflow spillway out of Rocks or better yet concrete at lower area of the pond. There is a better pipe drain that stays underwater and you seldom have this type stoppage. Google photos dam siphon over photos

I know you dropped so coins on your dam building but I like to suggest. If you were to setup a decent rock area for emergency over flow you would not have to worry as much about pipe blockage. Shoot you could put a wire cage round the top of the pipe.

Awesome Ron.....I was an Electrician....lol....we used to fix stuff all the time at the Ammo shops....we had a saying....give a cop or an Ammo guy an anvil and they'll break it! lol...good stuff....and the Ammo people knew how to party!

For the amount of rain you got I don't think your overflow pipe was adequate. be nice to have a canoe or a small one man boat to get out there to clean out the pipe.

As some suggested below, you might consider a screen for the intake to prevent blockage. I'd try to describe it, but it'd be best for you to google it.

Did you notice the log clogging your pond pipe looks like a wild boars head. You missed it !!! Ma6be you still have it ? Could make a video of it's condition now or transform it into a boars head art sculptor??? Aloha from Hawaii. Took snapshot but gotta find how to send .?...

Need to replace the rusted pipe with a plastic one for it looks asif it could be not taking in enough water to help relieve the pressure of the rain water build up.

You need an emergency spillway for your pond so when the water level rises like that it won't erode the dam. Also, why not make firewood with the downed tree instead of calling the county?

Pine garbage...burns up and cloggs the flew pipe...around here we burn mostly hardwoods

Hardwood is nicer for several reasons, but still no reason to waste less valuable firewood. Pine won't cause a problem as long as you burn it hot and keep it from smoking so you don't get creosote buildup so fast. Besides, you need to clean your chimney / stove pipe periodically anyway.

I hope you planted some grass or something in the meantime , you should really have a spillway engineered into your design. pond pipes clog easy and often especially with nothing to catch and screen out debris
