We camp in the fall quite a bit so we use the heater fairly often in our popup. I bought some bug guards that were stainless steel screens that attached right to the connection. Very nice camper set up by the way. We have an 2005 popup and it has almost the same layout as yours.

Love this video. We just recently purchased a 2016 Rockwood. We are currently on our maiden journey in the Upper Iowa River area. Fall camping is the best. So I appreciate you showing me how to tap into propane line on the inside of camper. I for the life of me felt clueless on how to access it. And the awning part is a total mystery. Tried to set up and then just put it away. Will try again next time. Definitely subscribing. Happy Camping 🏕

We bought an electric heater to use in our tent, 4 yrs ago. It got down to 25° that weekend. 😮 It's so quiet, and a campout saver! I'd also recommend a swivel fan. Kids gifted us a really quiet fan that really puts out the breeze. We keep that, and the heater in the storage space under the seat when not camping. We also have a coffeemaker, and small microwave in our pop up. They sit on our counter by the plug, and have been a campout saver more than once. They store under that counter when not camping. Next to the appliances is a wide Sterlite 3 drawer unit for food. It travels full in the car because it's too tall to stand in camper upright. But it stores in there on the side when not camping. Cooking utensils, potholders, matches and lighters are in shoebox sized latching bins like you have, with cutting boards, bowls, pots and pans underneath. We don't have built in drawers, and the cubby holes are odd shaped. But we managed to make our camping/cooking gear fit where they would get used the most and still easy to get to. Oh, one more tip--the zippered rectangular insulated totebags sold all over holds our coffeemaker nicely, and we keep it in there, with filters, under the counter when not camping. Cushioned, but we also wrap the carafe in a dishtowel to protect it for travel/storage. We love our pop up. Fits our camping needs, and stores in the garage.😊

After a very chilly weekend in a tent, we started thinking about pop ups, too!! We were trying actually to build a teardrop, but realized that wouldn't be practical with our senior basset hound camping buddy. Re tore down what little we had done, and made space for a pop up. Hubby found a 10ft Jayco, with a bike rake. Just the right size for us, and it fits in our garage. We love it. I call it Winnie's Wagon, in honor of our last senior basset. She passed to the heavenly campground a year ago, and sent us a basset puppy 5 mos later. We already broke Hilde into camping. Now, we need to get her a bike cart. 😊

Rob - Excellent video. We had a very basic popup (Jayco) for many years until the box rotted to the point of no return. Until it fell apart we loved it. We soon will be in the market for a new popup and have been checking out KZfaq for information. Your video was extremely informative. I've watch the professional RV salesmen video's and your video blows them away. I think the Rockwood 1940ltd looks like it's perfect for us. I also like the idea of the rack for bicycles and/or other stuff e.g., cargo box. Also the AC is a great addition especially if you cannot get a shady campsite or the temps are really hot. Did you purchase yours new or was it used? Anyway, thank you, well done.
@robandmirjana
@robandmirjana 5 ай бұрын
Thank you! We appreciate the comment! We got ours “used”, but it was basically new. The previous owner only had it for a year and it looked like it was only used a few times. A/C and bike/kayak racks are awesome. Only thing we regret is not having hot water, so maybe an upgraded model (like ESP) would be nice! If you bbq a lot, then hot water helps a ton with dishes. The kettle we use is ok, but not the same as on demand. Good luck. Cheers!

nice video. Camping with a pop up here in southern Ontario for the past 6 years, have been to most provincial parks in the GTA, Lake Erie, Lake Ontario and Lake Huron Area...trying to figure out what park you're at! The cover on your propane tank mentions Niagara Trailers and the sand base on your site looks like Erie, as Ontario and Huron are more shail and rock with mud and grass sites.. I would maybe guess Rock Point, Turkey Point, or wildcard Awenda

Great video Rob! It is much more informative than the sales pitch type videos. We are looking at the exact same 2023 model. How did you find the mattresses? It's hard to see their thickness. I would be adding extra foam support I believe.
@robandmirjana
@robandmirjana 5 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment! It’s a great model and we definitely recommend! The only drawback is not having hot water, but a small portable kettle does the trick (sort of). The mattresses are really nice and being able to heat them is a gamechanger. They are probably about 3-4 inches thick. Sometimes you can feel the wood plank underneath (if side sleeping for example) so adding the foam pads help with that! You can probably even double up on the pads, but I haven’t tried it. We only have the pads on one bed, only because I haven’t had a chance to get the other ones yet. But haven’t had any sleeping complaints.

@@robandmirjana Hey Rob. Thanks for the reply. One other question, I saw your comment that you had used another vehicle to tow your trailer which was rated at 2000 lbs. We have a Ford Escape that is rated for the same lbs. I'm thinking although we are under weight, I think we are OK. Any thoughts? We also have the Froli Sleep System that I may put in but it may elevate the mattresses to high. BTW I see you did the video at Oastler. We are from Muskoka and love the parks in the Parry Sound and Algonquin regions.
@robandmirjana
@robandmirjana 5 ай бұрын
@@bobwhite2521 yeah, we sometimes take my Jeep which has a 2000lb limit. You can definitely feel the pull so we try not to take it too often or too far, and only if it’s us 2 driving (not 4-5 people in the car). But to be fair, when we go backcountry camping or skiing with 5 people (no trailer) it’s still slow to accelerate. Not sure how the escape will perform but you can try. Also I haven’t heard of that sleep system so not sure! You live in a great area! Soo many nice lakes nearby :)

Great video!! We are thinking seriously about getting one of these pop-ups. Also, I noticed a Jeep in your footage - and in the setup video I noticed a Jeep blue tow hooks & the charger. @robandmirjana
@robandmirjana Жыл бұрын
Hey Michael, pop ups are the way to go! Yes we have the 4xe rubicon. The tow capacity is 3500 lbs and it tows the pop up no problem. We have another Jeep (2014 Sahara Unlimited) and it only tows 2000lbs. I’ve taken the trailer with it before but you can feel it struggle sometimes. I believe our model weights in dry at about 1800lbs. The trailer has electronic breaks so we have a wireless brake controller that works in any vehicle. You need a 2” hitch and a 7pin connector- both of which your Jeep should have.

Hi, there’s often moisture from our breath, from the air if we’re near a lake, or if it rains. I have a mini hydrometer which helps us know. Moisture can deff be an issue in tents or any camper if not ventilated properly. The best thing is to open the windows for some ventilation, in which pop ups have the advantage (360 degree ventilation). I think the main issue would be storing the trailer without first airing it out (as with a tent). Hope this helps!

I see your towing with a Jeep JL…. How does it pull? do you have a brake controller if so what one do you use. Thanks for the reviews
@robandmirjana
@robandmirjana Жыл бұрын
Hey, the Jeep tows it no problem! The JL is rated at 3500lbs, and we also tow it with a JK with a 2000lb tow rating. The JK still gets the job done. We had the dealer install a wireless break controller. I believe it’s the Tekonsha 902502 - Prodigy RF With Bluetooth Electronic Brake Control.

Are they actual windows or mesh? Like are they Velcro stuff? Can you hear through the windows and outside? Cna people from outside hear you?
@robandmirjana
@robandmirjana Жыл бұрын
Hey, they are plastic soft windows that roll/ zip up and then mesh on the outside. If it rains or it’s cold, we keep everything zipped. If it’s nice out, we zip down the windows to let a breeze inside. Since the pop up is all canvas and plastic windows, it’s doesn’t really provide any noise insulation (just like a tent). Usually I sleep with ear plugs if it’s noisy outside

I'm always updating my 86 Coleman and was wondering what bed heater is used on your PUP? Is it AC or DC powered? So far, I found a 12v Camco blanket that I can lay flat.

Hey, sorry but I’m not sure. Its built into the mattress and was included with the trailer. They may be special Rockwood mattresses. A heated blanket is a great alternative!

I have a 2018 Grand River 12GR tent trailer and we never use our water in our trailer and this year i am trying to convince my husband to use it.He is worried for mold etc,What do you do end of the camping trip?
@robandmirjana
@robandmirjana 3 ай бұрын
If it’s only water in there you shouldn’t get mold! Usually at the start of each year we sanitize with water and a bit of bleach and do a couple rinses. You can also just use that water tank for dishes and drink with refillable water bottles. At the end of the trip we just drain as much water out as we can!

@@robandmirjana I like it, but always thought I would get a tear drop and imagined myself cooking from the teardrop kitchen that opens from the back. Settled on the popup since its far more space, super light, and much much cheaper. I still wish I had a hard shell around me and the family when sleeping in back country though.
@robandmirjana
@robandmirjana Жыл бұрын
That’s a good point! Most of the time we still cook outside. A hard shell would be nice! Only issue for us was that hard shells are too tall and wouldn’t fit in the garage. Plus usually quite heavier!

Where did you get the 2 extra jacks from the front? Dealer or was it an amazon thing? And which levelers did you buy?

Why would you have a propane heater built in but you choose to use electric one? I think it's funny people are scared to use the propane ones..but they're actually safer than the one in your house..
@robandmirjana
@robandmirjana 10 ай бұрын
Haha we get asked this all the time. Main reason- the propane heater is very loud, and the electric one is almost silent. We also save propane since electricity is unlimited/ included in the nightly site fee. Our camper only has one propane tank and we like to save it for the bbq so we don’t run out. It happened once and sucked!
