A massive favourite here. Red bull is apparently named because originally, the flavouring called Taurine, came from the stomach of a bull. Taurus the bull in astrology, and torro is Spanish for bull, I think.

In Thailand, the head is the most important part of the body. When giving a wai, never put your hands below your neck. The tips of the fingers should be at your lips or nose. Watch and see how others greet each other.

sad to know its not well known that Thailand was called siam and never colonized, I thought it was well known, certainly at my school we learnt that, BTW the Asian financial crisis, you said we only got 40 baht to a pound, you seem to have misunderstood the currency affect of a financial crisis, it causes the currency in question depreciate NOT go up, I don't think Thais smile these days as they did on my first visit in 1990 and have become less friendly as the wealth has increased. interesting video and well presented

They aren't "dialects". they are their own languages. To say that "Isan" is a dialect of Thai, is linguistically incorrect. It is actually a dialect of Lao. I don't know if the Thai government goes out of their way to try and make it seem otherwise, but this is the case.

Why do all kids in Thailand learn english but almost nobody can speak it? Why kids in Thailand are not allowed to have questions in school? Why they learn that 2+2=4 but not the reason for that?

Because the education system there does not work. They are teaching kids to memorise but not practice or to grasp true understanding, questioning/doubting = disrespect. It needs a total revamp.

Always love to hear someone enjoys the time travelling in Thailanf. Some people like Pattaya and some doesn't, each to their own. I used to go to a university not too far from Pattaya and spent many weekends there. For me, it's just not the place I would recommend tourists to go if they want to see the real Thailand and Thai culture. You go to foodcourt in Central Pattaya for example and the first language on the food menu isn't even Thai (either Russian or English can't remember exactly).

Thais have nicknames because up until the reign of Rama 4 thats all they had.,They also walked around half naked and ate with their hands. Rama 4 was the king who wanted to "modernise"" Thailand (Siam) and introduced surnames and more extravagant first names.. He also ordered all citizens to stop being half naked (the posters still exist):and introduced eating with a spoon and fork by copying the utensils used by the French over in Cambodia.

Thailand was not colonized because the British on the West side and the French on the East side both agreed NOT to colonise Thailand and use it as a "buffer zone" between the two of them instead. Also, the French we're offered half of Chanthaburi Province in exchange for not colonizing. Later, the French gave it back. French Military Barracks and the infamous "Chicken Shit Prison" the French built still stand in Chanthaburi. None of this is in Thai school books of course..I worked as a teacher in Thailand for 12 years, can read Thai and could find no mention of this in any text books from Prathom 1 -6
