I'm an infamous motorized bike guy in my neighborhood, a fellow gave me this saw to try to get started for him. I found the kill switch bad, and disconnecting the wire from coil gave me spark. This saw is hard to pull and you sir are a beast and make it look easy.

You, sir, are an outstanding teacher. I know you're likely far away from retirement, but I would hope that when that time comes, you would consider perhaps teaching in a trade or technical school to share your knowledge with younger people going in this direction. You would be an outstanding mentor! 👍👏

I dropped the base gasket, raised the exhaust to 105*, opened the transfers as much as is realistic, put the 620 carburetor on, added the new 620 ignitor, opened the muffler completely (and the the deflector) and added a coarser screen for a little backpressure and some spark protection. I did all this right out of the box (never ran it stock) and after I got it started and retuned, she runs great and sounds good and is smooth running, excellent instantaneous acceleration.......now, break it in and see how she cuts wood....$375 for the saw no shipping out of Antioch, TN.....$79 for the ignitor, $89 for the coil....paid tax on it all but no shipping....appreciate you and your insightful explanations and sharing your "ancient Chinese secrets",,,,you are a talented instructor and easy to understand....as they taught us in the Army: "....tell them what you're about to tell them; then tell them what you need for them to know; then tell them what you just told them...." You're a good man, Charlie Brown.....

If I was using a saw to really do heavy duty firewood or timber cutting, I wouldn't do what I did upgrading the CS-590. I would buy a CS 620 or maybe a larger saw, a pro saw instead of something to upgrade. You can't make a CS 590 in to a CS620 for anything near the price of a CS 620......or maybe a Husqy. I'm retired from working 37 years as an electrical engineer and I have a lot of discretionary time and a little discretionary money and sometimes I just need something interesting, challenging, gratifying to do.....I enjoy watching Tinman for the same reasons all of you do and sometimes I just HAVE to do something like what he's doing. I can't do heavy work like I used to but I still have a lot left in me to do things in more moderation. I've had a lifetime of doing electronics and projects so for me chainsaws are a good blend of the mental and the physical yielding a gratifying result/experience. I can use my Stihls and Husqys and give the ones I build to my sons and daughters for use on their properties....and sometimes a friend will need a saw and I can give him a saw or a good deal on one......retiring is not the thing many folks think it is. I just have to have something useful and creative to do....doing nothing is misery for sure....

Amen brother about learning the hard way! Truth is when you think you've learned it all you''ll get schooled quick by the old fellows! I personally use the trial and error method but i also like to learn other people perspectives on it! Sometimes there is no right or wrong way of doing things, just harder or easier methods ( except porting/timing that's an art in some cases)

i've got a couple questions for ya! im into 2 stroke but new to saws, what's the second hole for in the dome? also have to ever had issue with using to much gasket maker and having it big a rig/lip in the port? on the 500cc 2 strokes i build, ive noticed it everytime, some of it even works its way through and out the exhaust, have you ever had issue with it getting caught in a ring and burning up?
