I’ve just changed my expansion vessel with success thanks to your video and now my boiler is working perfectly. I wouldn’t have had the confidence to give it a go without seeing this so thanks again! 👍

Thanks very much, I replaced mine in about 40mins heating is working a treat now.

Personally I would have first changed the cartridge inside the diverter valve as that is what switches the boiler from heating to hot water and back to heating. It is also quicker simpler and cheaper.

brilliant - similar issue will try replacing the 'Diverter Valve Cartridge' instead of the entire valve itself.

Didn't see your video Mark as my boiler is Baxi Bermuda Biotec so similar valve but mine has the bypass on the rear. Just replaced it all and working again.

Hi Mark, I'm about to attempt to change the heat exchanger. I have the same boiler as you. From your vid It looks like the rubber seals just sit inside the diverter valve openings on the back, and the exchanger openings then just seal up against those rubber seals after tightening the screws, making it water tight, Is this right? sorry I don't know how else to explain my question. Thanks.

Hi Mark, when re pressurising the system is there any way to bleed the boiler before opening the tap to the heating system ? Or do you just use the loop to pressurise as normal where does the air go ?

Hi Mark. I have the same boiler. My central heating has been off all summer. I switched it back on early October. Some radiators get hot some don’t. Sometimes they get really hot sometimes just luke warm. I’ve bled them, no change, ive flushed them too. Boiler seems to be fine. I’ve checked the thermostatic valves they’re all okay. Any ideas what it could be?

Just replacing the cartridge is much easier, avoids replacing the entire block

Hint: Cover PCB with a plastic bag to avoid water :)

I am all in favour of doing it yourself if you think you can, anytime mine breaks down I will be trying to figure out what is wrong with it before calling an engineer :-)

The diverter valve on detours heating water circuit to a heat exchange jacket The cold water supply to the hot water heat exchanger does not pass through the diverter valve ONLY through the heat exchanger Your heating system water needs flushing and refilling using an inhibiter That will pevent this type of problem

Hi mate. I have the same combi as this. I'm having an issue where I have hot water no issue, but no central heating. The thermostat is all paired fine, as I can hear the boiler keep trying to turn on the heating when I set it to (clicking) but nothing.... Would this be a case of replacing the diverter valve only? Could it be something more simple? If its the pocket hole option, where can I get a replacement from? Cheers mate

Hi, Ive just changed the cartridge in the diverter valve but I still have no heating. Is it worth changing the whole assembly? The assembly just looks like tubing that houses the valve so I don't know if it can go wrong? any suggestions asap would be welcome. Ive had no heating all through this really cold spell. Thanks.

Quick tip; drain the boiler first using the boiler drain cock and a short piece of hose. Amateur hour!!!!

No need to change the full valve, i can change the insert in about 10 mins. Leave it to the experts buddy.
