fantastic video with high quality video and very close up shots throughout the video. This video finally showed me where the grounding clip goes up by the power button. I did a screen replacement and the video I followed did not mention that clip and all of a sudden it fell on my lap and I was lost as to where it went. Then after reassembly I had a non working power button. I will open it up after work and see if that will fix it. THANK YOU!

Thanks iPhoneRepairMiamiBeach, saved my daughter's phone from the technoscrapheap once again. I'm really impressed with your videos - this one really only lacked one crucial piece of info which was the power button itself, and which orientation it needs to be when it goes back in to the phone (unless you're really clever and make sure it doesn't fall out when you remove the plastic cover that holds the power clicky-switch embedded in ribbon cable that sits under the external lump of metal ie: button). For those that make this mistake, you can google it. Or put it in with the bit of wire that flaps around facing down (as you work on the phone from its back) (or let's say the wire goes towards the screen). This one is rated as hard folks. And you might find it a bit too hard if you haven't done this sort of stuff before. Fine point tweezers are essential, though you don't have to have the bent tip ones shown in this video. I found this easier than doing the ribbon cable for the volume buttons. Make sure you get a sticky screw placement guide mat to put each screw on as you take it out or else you'll end up with a nightmare jigsaw puzzle of so many different sizes of screws (well, miniature bolts actually). I got mine when I bought parts from an Australian ebay seller called "fixmyphone" and it makes life soooo much easier.

Thanks for this. I found an empty egg carton with the holes numbered for each step helped A bit of Blu-Tack on the screwdriver heads (or magnetizing them) helps to not lose screws as they're removed

You can replace the flex without taking the front screen off but it is much safe top take it off. If you do not take the front screen off you can damage the lcd and digitizer flex cable because in order to unscrew the power button bracket you have to bend them a lot. So we prefer to take the screen off when we do this repair.

At first I thought, "okay, I can do this". But then 3 steps in I was like F this and went to Yelp. I found a guy that works out of his garage and is highly rated - "iPod Repair Clinic". I just dropped off my phone and will hopefully have a functioning power button in the next 60 minutes :) Woooot for the interwebs!

This was one of the things I did when I completely rebuilt my 4S. Everything's working now... almost. The light sensor is not working, despite several attempts at auto brightness recalibration. Is there something from the part that I may be missing that's causing the auto brightness not to work? The small sensor bracket mentioned in this video isn't adhering to the part of the flex cable it's supposed to be, if that helps to pinpoint the problem I'm having--and that clip that goes over the sensors is missing from my phone. Just trying to pinpoint the cause of my auto brightness problem.

settings > general > accessibility > assistive touch slide assistive touch to "on" position tap the new icon in bottom right corner (square with 3 inlaid circles) tap "device" option press and hold "Lock screen" The power off slide bar appears now, having bypassed use of the broken power button. :) To turn it back on, without a functional power button, just plug it in to charge. It turns by default.
@allensinho4
@allensinho4 11 жыл бұрын
Enable Assistive Touch: Tap SETTINGS, General, Accessibility, AssistiveTouch (near the bottom) and tap AssistiveTouch to ON. You will now notice a small dark square with a circle in the middle (you can move this square anywhere). Tap the dark circle to open the assistiveTouch menu, then tap Device and tap and HOLD the Lock Screen icon. This will bring up the iPhone's Power-Off slider - no need for a power button any longer

This is a very well done video. Good job! However, it would have been nice to see you put it back together. I suspect it is not as easy as taking apart. my biggest challenge is with the adhesives on the power switch cable. Once you pull off the last two parts (step 22 and 23), there is no adhesives on the new switch ribbon cable to stick them back on. I am trying two sided tape and glue stick but none of these will be permanent. When you are peeling off the speaker in Step 22 be very careful to keep the thin foam layer intact. It doesn't pull off as easy in the video. I tore mine in half. So try to keep foam attached to speaker and keep the adhesive on the phone if you can. I'm sorry now for trying this. The phone was working perfectly except for the switch. I could get it turned on by just plugging it in. Well, here I go to reverse the steps. Wish me luck!
@dbpike
@dbpike 5 жыл бұрын
Ok, after numerous attempts to reverse the steps, I have realized why they didn't show the reassembly in the video. It is impossible. If you have a phone that is "sort of" working, then just make the best of it or sell it for parts. The failure is reversing Steps 20 and 21. That small retainer bracket they warn you about in Step 20 just does not go back on. It is critical for holding the small plastic sensor bracket in step 21. With out this, you will never get the phone back together or to ever work again. I should have read the other comments before attempting this. That said, this is a great video if you just like taking your phone apart to see all the components. I'll never complain about the price I have to pay for a phone again.

To the director/producer of this video: The video itself is great. Great image quality, great cuts, like a movie. But - This vid is completely useless and confusing for us guys who want to repair our iPhones. From second 7:10 to 7:24 the MOST IMPORTANT AND DIFFICULT part of the repairing begins, so why do you make 4 (!!!) different camera angles while taking off the prower button? to confuse the s*** out of us? Sry guys, just being honest.
