The z36 pad is probably the best I’ve ever used. I drive a lifted truck on 37s and I am absolutely amazed on how quick it stops. Plus with the truck being a 1/2 ton and not having as much brake power as a 3/4 or 1 ton. They stop incredibly well. To anyone questioning this pad/set. Absolutely do go with them

Anyone in here do overlanding and have these installed? Just curious because i carry a bit of gear in my truck and i have a bed cap as well as some gear on top and obviously when traveling you expect hills and such. So i would assume these will help with the weight and limitation of heat soak?

Great video, do you think they are less prone to warp than the OEM or it's mostly a matter of how you drive ?

Driving habits make a huge difference on brake performance. When it comes to this setup, it's more about heat dissipation. Greater heat dissipation results in less brake fade.

Speaking from the standpoint of having not received mine yet, I can't help but wish they had a few more holes in them for further peace of mind. I'm sure they work fine but the look of them almost look like there's just enough holes and slots for them to be able to say theyre drilled and slotted..making me wonder just how much heat and gas/dust they're actually dissapating.
@312ark
@312ark 11 ай бұрын
If you have too many holes drilled in them you reduce the amount of surface material for the pads to grip. That's a downfall to drilled and slotted rotors.

Would you purchase the PS Z36 brake set again? I am looking to get new pads/roters. I have a 2008 Ram 4500 11' dump with 19.5" wheels (6-speed manual). I do see that PS makes a set for my truck on RockAuto, but my concern is that the PS uses a Ceramic type pad which are not good for stopping compared to semi-matalic pads. My truck will get up close to 25,000 lbs sometimes with a load in the bed and pulling my backhoe, and I have always used semi-metalic pads and a solid serface rotor. Would you say that PS Z36's would be a good choice for these large 4500/5500 trucks?
@312ark
@312ark Жыл бұрын
Yes, I would purchase them again. The package that I put on my truck is design for towing and hauling. When I pull my camper and have all of our gear I weigh about 10,000 lb and have never had any trouble with hard stopping. Keep in mind, your trailer brakes play a big role in your stopping ability too.

I got the ceramic pads and black drilled and slotted rotors in a set of 4 with the 8 pads, and some red re man calipers separately. Im around 750 in it with the caliper cores being sent back. Its for a 16 wrangler jku, wish i would of paid 70 more for the bigger rotors but i couldnt find a red caliper to fit. The stock rotor size seems to do fine so far tho! I say look for the sets separately like I just did and then u can send the cores back on the calipers and they provide a greatly discounted shipping label if you go through their site when your ready. I noticed the set with caliper, caliper bracket, pads, and rotors don't give u a core option to send old parts back

Had Z36 installed on my Escalade yesterday and im wondering if I was suppose to feel a noticeable difference with the firmness of the pedal immediately after install or does it get noticeably stronger over a day or two . Right now I think my factories had a better bite less effort on the foot to pedal pressure to come to a hard stop. I guess with all the hype I was expecting to tap the pedal and almost get thrown through the windshield . I was told they will bite more over time any advice would be helpfu

I noticed a difference almost immediately. Where the pads and rotors broke-in as recommended? I did a brake fluid flush when I put on the Z36 brake package. Brake fluid flushes are super easy and you can buy a pressure kit pretty inexpensively from Amazon.

You don't know what you're talking about about the science of breaking systems crush drilled rotors allow the out gasing from the pads to escape They do not allow them to cool faster there's actually less material there for a smaller heat sink and they're prone to cracking I've had cross drilled rotors on the streetcar and they cracked at the holes. Newer brake pads since probably the '90s don't have the out gasing problem that these rotors were designed for

@@312ark From motortrend "Cross-drilling brake rotors supposedly helps vent gases created when the resin bonding agents within the brake-pad material begin to break down at extreme temperatures. When this happens, the pedal still remains firm while the friction coefficient decreases, causing a loss of brake effectiveness. Racers often refer to this condition as "green pad fade" or "outgassing." With new-tech, preburnished carbon fiber or ceramic racing brake pads, this gas buildup is no longer a major concern. Less exotic street-pad components are still subject to outgassing, but only when used on a racetrack at extreme temperatures rarely, if ever, seen on the street. Another theory was that drilling multiple small holes in the rotor surface increased the coefficient of friction between the pads and the rotor because all the additional small edges let the pads bite more effectively. But today's modern carbon-fiber pads are designed to operate at higher heat levels where the friction coefficient is inherently higher, so any additional hard-edge bite is superfluous. And all those added small edges eat into the pad material, shortening its life. That leaves only potential weight savings and (if you are into profilin') visual enhancement as the primary reasons why anyone would drill rotors today. Nevertheless, there's a big potential downside to drilled rotors: micro-cracks that propagate out from the holes. This can be a particular problem for street-driven cars." Why don't you do a little research before you start spewing nonsense on KZfaq You don't know anything about the science.

Did I say something that's outside of someone's personal opinion? Maybe. An article from Motortrend, while it's still a respected source, isn't the gospel. It is an option based on research from the author. You can find articles all over the Internet about braking systems and most of them contradict each other. These articles are a great way to begin researching, but like everything else it's best look at multiple sources. People tend to report what they've experienced and/or what they found through their own research. I'm not saying what's in that article is false, it's s an option that is based on the authors research and/or experience and should be considered in conjunction with other sources.
