Practicing Drawing your gun is a necessity if you are going to carry a gun. However many gun owners do not practice drawing there weapon. Did you know that you have about 0.7 seconds from the time a gun is drawn until the first shot is fired on average? The average distance at which this happens is only 3 to 5 yards. That's it, 3 to 5 yards.
It's actually scary when you think about how quick and how close that is. Can you do it? Will you practice for it? That is the better question. Yes you can do it, there are records that people have drawn a gun in under 0.2 seconds. Now I am nowhere close to that quick, but I do practice, and I try the best I can to make sure I am as quick as I can be and I can also get on target as quickly as possible.
Please note, that a gun should only be used as a defensive weapon. It should never be used for offense and it should never be used to intentionally harm anyone. It can save your life, and the life of your family when used properly.
It's also important to make sure that isn't your only option available to you. Some situations could be handled with mace for instance. Sometimes your life might be in danger, but not from anyone carrying a gun, so it's good to have more than one option available to you.
