Ardhanaareeshwara is a composite of Shiva and Shakti together in one body. This form reminds us that Shiva is beyond gender, yet encompasses both genders.
It illustrates how the female principle of God, Shakti, is inseparable from the male principle, Shiva. My salutations to both Parvathi and Shiva. The ones surrounded by a host of eminent sages, who have the glory of being exceptionally decorated during the evening Puja. The ones mounted upon the sacred bull, worshipped by the prosperous Guruguha for the melody of Kumudakriya, praised by all the Agamas and proclaimed by the Vedas!
I consider myself blessed to have learnt this piece from Dr Janaki Rangarajan.
