@@neeharika7328 It's 2 yrs now! Thanks to my Guru's encouragement, gajje pooja got completed successfully in 2023. Completed adugus, jathis, jathiswaram. Now in items. Dancing at 43 feels so good 😀

@@neeharika7328 It was very challenging initially. Legs ached like crazy, body refused to bend😀. Thanks to my Guru. He went very slow and gave me enough time to blend to the adugulu. I struggled until jathis. From jathiswaram it was okay.

When the lockdown happened in March and life became upside down , it was crazy for mothers like me to manage bored kids and busy husbands at home. It had been over two years that I had stopped dancing because of pregnancy and birthing. One day all of it became so overwhelming that I wrote a desperate msg begging my teacher to start my class. It's been going on okay, had pathetic stamina and terrible knee pain when I started. It is slowly getting better. I refer to your videos too. Thanks for making this video.

Hi akka, I was trained in Kalakshetra style for about 10 years and had to pause dancing due to studies. After briefly dancing in college for around 6-8 months, I had little to no confidence to return back to dance after graduation. I resumed it around a month ago and getting back to shape with the same flexibility and stamina is a toughie and is frustrating at times. Found a lot of courage in myself after looking at your video. Can't thank you enough for this.

I am 40 years old with bowled leg and 2/kids c section. I have a health condition called Beta thalassemia. When I started dancing I was 36 years old. I love dancing that is the only time I forgot what is going around me even though I have pain. I love watching your videos. It's like a boost for women like us. God bless you dear.

I am 18 years old. I have learned dance from the age of 5. In 2020 due to covid and my studies I had to pause dance ( although it was not my intention but my parents). In 2023 I had given my class 12 exam and decided to resume dance again. But when I again went to classes after 3 years( to my guru who taught me from my childhood) it was really nostaglic✨...and though my legs were hurting a lot....but I was really happy. BTW I was trained in Bharatnatyam To all those people who who are thinking about resuming dance ...pls not hesitate no matter you age , studies, busy schedule ( do it no matter what) And thank you very much for this video. It really gave me confidence ❤

Very important topic. We all have our share of breaks, one reason or the other. We will do more harm than good if we jump back to the old routine all of a sudden. You have explained the subject very well. Replace the word "Dance" by "Workout" or in our case "Cycling" - same principles work. Cheers.

Very true. Starting Dance, workouts, running or any games after a considerable break for that matter should be done slowly. After regaining the lost touch, one can always think of increasing the duration of workout. Its a mind game sir !!! 👏👏

Life is like walking / running on a treadmill. We must keep moving in order to remain where we are, OR else we will get thrown out! It is the same with any Art or Skill. Once we stop practicing, we will slide back downhill in no time. :(

i have started dance after 20 yrs ....after 2 kids at 39 i wanted to do it...but my knee pains while dancing and also face problems while trying full mandi steps...find my motivation fly away to continue

Dancing is no different from any other sport. We need to condition the body before we expect it to do all sorts of magic it has never done in years. Hi Pratibha, thanks for sharing..this is exactly for me...last I did my annual function for my teacher is 2012 in kolkata then got married had a baby and later at 2018. started again in Chennai under a teacher but was really difficult..had been following ur videos n trying to implement..also I m a working women as well so balancing the time gets really difficult.. at least 3 times a week try to do the class n do a practice for myself..

I am 20yr old.l stopped dancing 3 yr before to achieve my dream to be a medico and I succeeded, it's going to add the 'Dr' tag soon but I lost my passion. I really want to get back to dancing but my Accedemics and hostel life is not giving me a good space for my dance But I am trying , pray for me to be back in dancing as gracefuly as before. I LOVE DANCEING

I used to go for Bharatnatyam classes when I was 7-8. I actually got quite good at it and even perfomed on stage. After that though, I got calcium deficiency and my legs started hurting while dancing, so I quit. I'm now 12 and decided to join the school classical dance for independence day, I hope I can do well

Thank you for a very useful video... I'm a mother of a 4 yr old who has resumed dance in last one yr but I struggle to maintain stamina and posture .... Hence could you suggest any workouts that I can incorporate while I'm doin my daily chores???

You could do all the exercises mentioned in my videos. Opt for scaled down modifications if necessary. I'm not a fan of combining workout with daily chores as it doesn't serve the purpose of workout (in my opinion). I would suggest dedicating some time for workout. Even if it is a brisk 2 km walk/jog.

I have been trained in Bharatanatyam for 16 years, but during 12th standard I had to give it a pause. I couldn't resume due to my busy college schedule and have gained a lot of weight. I could do long Varnams easily but now I don't even have the stamina to stay in aramandi. I would like to join your online classes. It'll be great if you share how can I do so.

I sprinkled my foot and for my flat foot I've suffered a lot and for this I had to take a break from dance and now it has been 2years....but now I want to rejoin my dance class. So ma'am can I start it now? I mean will my flatfoot cause problem while dancing?

You are welcome. Depends on what problem you faced and how you overcame the same. Visit a physiotherapist to learn the exercises to prevent the same. I have flat feet and bunion too for which I have exercise specific to my problem.

I started dancing at the age of 6, and continued for about 10 years.. Then had to take a break because of my studies.. I'm 24 now, and still passionate about dancing and planning to resume... however I got diagnosed with fibromyalgia, a rheumtic disorder, when I was 17... is it possible for me to dance full time again?

Best thing to do would be to ask your doctor because I do not know how serious the condition is. I wouldn't want to give wrong advice since it is not my field of expertise :) But I really hope you get to dance..

Mam I learned barathanatiyam in my age of 7 .... now I'm 21 .....I made a gap bez of studies.......now I start my dance practice.....I know all steps ... everything is perfect....but I can't sit and stand while dancing....I can't sit in my fingers.....it give more pain ....and it is more tough to quick sit and stand step.

Depends on which path you want to take up. If you wanna become a teacher, start taking classes after discussing with your teacher. If you wanna become a performer, apply for programs/work on productions and do shows. If you wanna study further check for universities which have MA/PHD courses. There are so many other paths too... like a costume designer, singer for dance, lighting and sound artist, makeup artist, compere etc..

Only you can make time for things you are passionate about. Keep an hour for dance class and attend online classes if offline class doesn't work for you(considering you will need more time to travel to class etc).

They say so to check your form I suppose. If there has been a huge gap, it's best to revise your previous lessons. You will progress faster, anyway. Also, it depends on various factors like what lessons you have learnt, your understanding of those lessons, your current teacher's style and your style.. so it's very hard for me to suggest anything at all.

@@sankarmoorthi7261 every teacher will have some standards and expectations from a student and I understand the student also has some expectations from the teacher. It's best to communicate and discuss with the teacher to get clarity on where you stand currently and what plans they have for you...
