Here is my guide to preppy shoes!
In this video I'll share with you eight of the most popular preppy shoe styles - including a little bit of history behind the shoes, and a few ways I like to style them.
As preppy style is very classic and not built around fast-changing fashion trends, all of these shoes would be a great investment for your wardrobe. They're all very practical and won't go out of style!

I love duck boots; They’re ideal for autumn walks! They’re made with so many colors and designs there’s always going to be a pair you’ll like - you just have to find them. My sister was a duck boot hater till she found a pair in all red. I would say hunter boots are for rainy days and muddy fields but duck boots are for the next day when the sun comes out. Also perfect for canoeing. 😊

I have an insane amount of oxford shoes of many different colors lol. I call them my grandpa shoes and I always get a lot of compliments when I wear them. 💚☄ I also have several ballerinas, loafers, mary janes, one pair of white sneakers with cats on it and one pair of boat shoes with butterflies. I guess I was ready for the preppy lifestyle before I knew. 😂

Down South Boat culture is also a thing here, but we do it more so for the lakes. It is very common for someone to have a lakehouse

2:08 I'd actually love a whole video just on that 1940s bobby soxer look (i.e. teenage Shirley Temple and Judy Garland, Louise Erickson). I thought the rest of this was lovely as always though. There were definitely a bunch I knew by sight but not by name until the video.

I live in Utah and we get cold winters. Duck boots have been here from the beginning. I had the low top ones in the 90s. They were perfection. Shoes that are leather and not comfy fold those puppies in half wrap them in twine whilst folded and leave them for 24 hours. You’re welcome.

Hello, new sub here! I love duck boots! I recently went on a hicking vacation for Spring Break, it was cold, wet and rainy, and my Sperry duck boots held on beautifully. They were very comfortable and warm. I looked very stylish on the trails 😉.

Here in Maine they are called “Bean boots”. No one would ever say “duck boots.” And, yes, everyone here wears them.

Bass Weejuns cordovan penny loafers (socks or no depending) have been my signature shoe for over fifty years. I am wearing Sperry Topsiders in taupe on my feet right now as I write. Duck boots are like Birkenstocks--ugly but necessary. Over the years, I have adored wearing Minnetonka moccasins. I wear them instead of white sneakers and also have a pair in red. Shoes that I mourn that I tossed, Norma Kamali black flats that looked like sneakers. I still have black ballet flats, of course, but now I turn to Born clogs or clunky Doc Martens.

I bought some penny loafers, they’re beautiful! But it hurts my feet and it really caused a lot of discomfort. I bought a half size bigger even but it’s still uncomfortable . Is this normal? Should I just keep breaking them in? Does it get more comfort? Or are my feet just not for loafers?

Penny loafers were also used to communicate how many kids a young prep wanted. Or I read once. The default of course was two one in each shoe. Hum has anyone else heard this story?

HA...I wear all these.Dont wear topsiders and you will break toes on a sailboat.I like the brown boat shoes the others are pretty too...I love ballet flats and loafers as well and have penny loafers. I no longer need duck boots or other waterproof boots. I also do wear lots of riding boots...love my RL ones..also I wear western cowboy boots at all heights...love those too...most of all of the shoes I own fit in one of these categories.

I love my classic jack rogers. I have so many pairs, and they make my feet look SO pretty, but what I will never understand is how people think they are comfortable?!!!! Are you talking about the leather strap or the footbed? I admit, once broken in, the leather upper part is fine, but the footbed is the most uncomfortable thing I have ever dealt with. I mean don’t get me wrong though I will still keep wearing them throughout summer.

Haha! I guess I mean they are most comfortable in relation to other "dressy" sandals I've tried. Once the Jacks are broken in the leather part doesn't give me blisters, and the footbed is thick enough that I don't feel like there's only a paper thin layer between my feet and the ground. The footbed is literally just a slab of wood though haha so it's not exactly optimum comfort 😂

Do not buy Hunter boots if you plan on using them as outdoor boots. I had mine in a rack outside with other much older wellingtons and they deteriorated within half a year. Layers coming off and becoming completely unwearable! What a WASTE of money that was.
