Easter 2022! I always make apple pie for holiday desserts. This year I made John’s Apple Crumble Pie for Easter and it was a hit! The concept of cooking the apples first before filling the pie was a genius idea! Each bite had just the right texture. Because the apples were precooked, the pie maintained a nice shape with no ‘sink holes’ AND the bottom of the pie and crust never got watery! I added a half cup of oatmeal to the crumble and my only regret was not adding pecans (these are personal preferences). It was a beautiful pie and I was proud to serve it! Thanks John! Made this today and I must tell you. The crust was INCREDIBLE!! Oh my god it was so buttery and frickin flakey! Although I had some issue with the pie dough because it kept cracking.. but on the second attempt it was perfect and smooth!
