100% agree! I have worked this whole pandemic and haven’t gotten anything extra. I know it’s not people’s faults for losing their jobs but I am still productive. Shouldn’t I be rewarded for that?

Not true. The rest of the bill is a standard appropriations measure negotiated in bipartisan agreement and coincidentally bundled with the covid relief. Trump is either too stupid to know this or mendacious enough to misguide his supporters into thinking it is an issue. He does not really want to give out $2000 checks but can make the excuse that he would if only it is accompanied by cutting "unneeded" foreign aid.

I am using the word with the sense something happening together but not dependent upon each other. Two separate issues which happen to occur together. In this case the bills were put together for a single vote for convenience rather than because they addressed the same purposes. As I write this response, President Trump has signed the measure, including $900 million covid relief. Some people are p*ssed he delayed and that resulted in there being a lapse in unemployment relief. But I am just glad he did sign it, and while I do like or approve of him generally, I think in this he made a good decision in he eleventh hour. If he keeps up behavior like this, I may have to reassess my judgment of how crazy and destructive he is. If he does indeed go on to support raising the one-time checks from $600 to $2000, well, I would certainly applaud him in that.
