We can use the Loopback function of Universal Control and our PreSonus audio interface to record computer sounds such as KZfaq or Groove, directly into our DAW, like Pro Tools or Studio One.
First, set your PreSonus audio interface as the sound source for Windows. We're using a Studio 1824c.
Next, make sure your PreSonus interface is the Playback Engine for Pro Tools or whatever DAW you are using.
In Universal Control, set the Loopback to Virtual.
In your DAW set the input of your Audio Track to Virtual Input 1/2
Change the output of the track to 3/4 (or anything other than 1/2) - because anything that comes out of 1/2 will be looped back in and this would create a feedback loop.
You could also just MUTE the track.
Record enable the track.
Record in your DAW.
Playback the KZfaq video or other source, and the audio will be recorded in your DAW.

I did everything you said and I still can't get loopback recording going. When I load Studio One 4 up nothing will else will play. All I can hear is what Is playing or going on in Studio one.

I think the problem is that the bit-depth and sampling rate are different between your OS sound system and Studio One. Try to change those so that they are the same, then the problem should be solved.

Is this not available on the 1810c I don't see that option.

Awesome hey Ben about time you got a new interface. I hope you try the Studio One it blows Protools away by far. Check into to and give it a chance please. Keep the Eleven rack. It is always useful for many things....

@@BenoniStudio Hey Ben if you want to try it out check this out. Just do a month of it. No contracts. This is how I tried it and the reason why is Protools midi engine still sucks ass and I have been using it since Protools 7 LE. I got this set up to capture the audio from KZfaq, Spotify, etc., but here is my problem. On my mixer, Ar8, when I add my keyboard, guitar, or other instruments to their own tracks/channels they are being recorded into the loopback channel. I can see their signal on the loopback channel in Studio One. How can I prevent studio one from sending these additional tracks to the loopback, but still hear them through my monitor speakers. I only want the loopback channel to record PC audio, NOT my other instruments that are plugged into my mixer. This has been driving me nuts for over a year.

In other words. When I'm recording PC audio such as KZfaq, I want to also play my keyboard into it's own channel in SI. However, everything I add to the mixer always gets sent to the loopback channel, so when I play guitar along with KZfaq music the loopback channel also records my guitar even though I have keyboard/guitar set up on its own channel/track in S1.

I figured it out. My damn Universal Controller wasn't showing virtual. I had to reinstall it. It must have been corrupted or changed somehow.

Is it possible to route the Virtual outputs from studio one to the computers sound card? ie Xsplit?

There's no need to use the computer sound card. Just create an audio input capture and select the Loopback driver. I don't use Xsplit, but this is how it's done in OBS. If that's not an option, an old school way to do it is to take a pair of outputs from your interface and run them into the computer. Usually you would use a dual TRS 1/4" to single stereo 1/8"

The whole point of loopback, yeah. BUT, it's still hard to accept the fact that you can't simply capture audio from a website, i.e., computer audio, into a DAW UNLESS you have loopback. It just pisses me off.
