Everytime I watched this video, I learn something new! Now I always use vine charcoal for sketching prior to applying pastels. Thank you for the inspiration and your generosity!

Thank you for taking the time to put this together! It gave me some things to think about. Hard edges, versus soft, the way you shaped the figure in. I've learned some tips I hope to be able to integrate in my paintings, whether pastels or acrylics.

when the picture is finished what you use of fixative before by the frame or it runs out of the fixative varnish?
@harrygraham923
@harrygraham923 6 жыл бұрын
Some pastelists use fixative and some do not as they think it dulls the painting. There are tutorials on KZfaq on fixative use.

Awesome. What kind of paper are you using? 'Cause i bought some hard pastels and they seen to tear the "normal" paper. Or they at least leave visible scratches and damage the surface of the paper.

It's not worth paying for the entire video. you can't go forward or back to see it again from a certain point and it hangs all the time. I haven't been able to see it in its entirety. You should be able to download it to your computer in order to view it correctly. as it is not cheap.

it was good for 1 min then i started getting bored with unnecessary details. you did only 30% of the portrait 70% talking. good.. but like your starting was meaning info, all of a sudden your portrait jumped from 30% to 100% messy photoshop conversion. why charcolist dont know how to finish hair? it always looks messy and crapy. can you explain? yours is like that too. i disliked your video that does not mean i dislike your mastery; you are a highly talented artist. but you are not good at putting it rightly on soc. media.

It's due to the thickness of the stick, you've to switch to pastel pencils for fine details
