Avs are recent champs too. Last year's exit was a fluke, and they rebuilt the bottom two lines and found their second line center (the reasons they struggled last year). That end of the year slump made a lot of mediocre teams look better.

The Stars didn't dump him. He went the entire season without scoring a goal for the Stars. His play was more down then up during his time with the Stars.

yeah, that's not how it happened at all. He got A LOT of chances with Dallas. They even let him go back to Russia to find himself. He was absolutely terrible for them when he came back. You and those upvotes should stick your revisionist history where the sun don't shine.

Already happened with Nashville in 2022 and the Avs swept them. In no way saying that’s going to happen as Dallas is a much tougher opponent and just stating that it’s not the first time the Doucher has squared off in a series against his former team.

Obviously the regular season doesn’t mean anything, so I’m not basing this off the regular season outcome, but I feel like the Avs and Stars play a similar game, and I think the Avs play that fast paced style better. As long as Georgiev holds, the Avs have this in the bag. Still never know what you’re gonna get out of him though, so as with the Jets series, I think this will come down to the goaltending.

Dallas is going to have to run 6 defensemen to keep up with all four lines of the Avs. I'm now at a crossroads; Joe Pavelski and Zach Parise are two of my favorite players. I'm torn on who I wanna see lift the Cup.

Kiviranta was having a monster series defensively against the Jets so I hope he's good to go. Nichushkin was MVP of that series. We'll see how those trends continue...

He's always dangerous, but it's Lehkonen you gotta watch out for. He (usually) doesn't score a ton of goals, but he comes up with the big ones in key moments.

I never understood how the Duchene beef ran so deep. He sounded a bit entitled and disrespectful, sure. But he grew up an Avs fan and since he left, Colorado swept Nashville in R1 on the way to the Cup. This one should be water under the bridge by now. If anything, maybe Big Val wants to let Dallas know what they missed out on.

He spoke to Landy 1 on 1 about leaving the team with him to "go play real hockey" somewhere else. Gabe was very hurt and frustrated by that, knowing that this was the team he was entrusted with. That's the only thing that I've heard come out publicly, but besides that, it was extremely clear Duchene wanted nothing more with the Avs. After that, the chemistry with Duchene and the team was completely gone, he had burned his bridge. He didn't want to help make a team good, he just wanted to be on a good team. There's a very different mentality there. Duchene is still very immature as a person and as a player, and that's something that I had hoped he would have grown out of, but sadly has not. I don't wish him failure, but simply to grow up.

One big point of note about 2020 is that the Stars needed OT in game 7 to beat an Avs team with an unreal amount of injuries. As in, both goalies, pretty much every notable player, etc. The Avs basically had half an AHL roster by the time that series wound down, and it still came down to OT. I'm hoping for Avs in 6 this year, but it should be a close series.

Avs fan here. This one could go either way. I could really see the Stars outlasting us but we'll have to see. If we want a chance to win this series, we need to end it quickly. Good luck to the Stars in this series. May the best team make it out to the WCF.

This is going to be a crazy good series. Glad we dont have to wait long lol Never doubted Dallas, though going down 2-0 was not the look I was hoping for. But the team, as it has all season, bounced back and played resilient. What makes me nervous, though we are deep, our attack is not consistent in its persistence outside the Johnston-Benn-Stankhoven line. Miro playing like a Norris winner, though never even voted top 3. Otter stood tall when he absolutely had to, that game 1 shocker definitely rattled some cages. Those fluke goals back to back and then having Suters goal wiped without much of even a conversation was too much. Does anyone else think Vegas arena music and lights are annoying as can be? Every other arena plays music we all know and sing along with, another thing I LOVE about the NHL and its fans. But not in Vegas, its some keyboard monkey banging on his electric piano that makes a gillion other noises, none sounding human. And lights... I get it, its Vegas, but Vegas I would argue is known for its shows, the crooners as they were known... FFS for that reason alone I am glad Vegas got bounced. Wont have a seizure unit on standby for the rest of the playoffs, heart doc is still firmly on standby!

From Dallas with love Shannon, I have to call it like this: If the Stars win game one, Stars in seven. If we drop game one, Av's in six. That first game at home, is CRUCIAL for Dallas, and if they lose it, they give home ice to Colorado, and I'm not so sure we can pull the same magic twice. Love your channel, and GO STARS!

There’s also context to that Avs loss in 7 in 2020. Avs were absolutely battered and missing a ton of people due to injury. We were also on our third string goalie in Andrew Hammond for that game 7. And it went to OT. I know I’m an Avs homer, but that series was insanely close and it was 1/2 an AHL team against a pretty healthy Dallas team. This year should be A LOT more competitive. Dallas has gotten a lot better too.

Vegas looked slow and cumbersome against the Stars. Colorado is a different team altogether. Goaltending might be the difference in this series. Should be fun.

Oetinger’s save percentage was .925 only because Vegas’ pathetic offense only mustered 22-25 shots a game. His percentage will go to shit when the Avs blister him with 35-40 a game

@@pronouncedZordonnieI agree it’s tougher when you’re gonna face double the shots, but so will georgiev, I’d take Thompson or Hill for that matter any day over your starter and backup, see the stars and the Avs are alike in strong offense, but we boiled over the Vegas pot while the lid was locked on, yall boiled over while Hellebuyck forgot to show up. The difference here is that Colorado’s defense is shaky compared to Vegas’ the stars can play both sides of the ice, can the Avs?

Did you not see the interview of Hellebuyck saying he felt like he was playing the best hockey of his career? Saying he forgot to show up is such an easy excuse when I'd argue it was actually the Avs offense playing that well.

I'm not too confident in predicting either team's victory. Will be an interesting series for sure after what happened in 2020. Truly curious to see how the killer instinct the Avalanche seem to have like they did in 2022 will affect the matchup now. I think it's really up to Ottinger and some at least passable defense for Dallas as to whether they win though.

Avs are playing pretty well right now, shooting pretty aggressively. And skating and puck handling seem to be good. But this matchup could be a challenge. If the Avs win one of the first two in Dallas they’ll take the series I think.

Yeah Colorado is looking like they did two years ago. I heard on the spittin chiclets podcast that if they shut mackinnon down it’s over for us. I disagree when you have the depth scoring that we do where half the team is scoring a point per game you better watch out our depth scoring is phenomenal right now.

That's a weird take from Spittin Chiclets, since the Jets did a pretty good job of shutting down MacKinnon. Agreed, if the depth keeps contributing as they have the Avs are going on a deep run. There is a '22 vibe about them after that first series!

I think Colorado Avalanche has the edge. They got a lot of offensive power and speed. Can Dallas match Colorado's speed ? Dallas plays a more defensive game. Jake Oettinger has to be at his best in goal if Dallas is to have a fighting chance. Heiskanen will have to step up his game as Dallas's best defenceman. I think the only way to check Collarado's speed is to forecheck and play a very tight checking game with a lot of hits. Will there be a lot of penalties ? Yes, sure there will.

I feel like people are sleeping on the Avs a bit this year. They have something like 12 players still on the team from the cup winning year when they seemed unstoppable. Last year they got knocked out early, sure, but they had lots of injuries and hadnt filled the holes left by landeskog, kadri and burakovsky. They've since retooled and guys like middlestadt are thriving right now. If Georgie can stay decent in net im not sure anyone beats the Av's

I'm an Oilers fan and I simply can not cheer for Dallas. In the 90s they kicked our butt's year after year and finally the year we beat them was glorious. I get emotional just thinking about captain Canada Ryan Smith, Dougie Weight, Marchand, Grief...what a squad...anyways Dallas today is legit, such a stacked team, happy they beat out the Golden Spleens but my pick is the Avs. Mac dog and company will push through Avs in 6

I watched all these long series game 7s and in everyone I was bored out of my mind with the type of Hockey they play. I just kept thinking could the avs bring the scoring like they did to the Jets? If so everyone is in big trouble against the Avs. We will see, its like a season within a season and each new series feels like it can be different.

Stars lost every game to the Knights in the regular season and the first two in their playoff series. They still managed to pull out the series win. Vegas was the absolute worst match up for the Stars and they figured out a way to advance. This team is special. Best team in the league on the road. Stars in 6 in Denver.

Honestly, if Otter stands on his head while Georgie becomes swiss cheese, this can get tight. Dallas needs to stay out of the box, get physical and work the boards. I just think Colorado is too strong, but there certainly is a way the Stars can win.
