Clay Tall Stories

The challenge of living with nothing but my clothes and a basket with some primitive Maori stone tools is teaching me a lot. It's very hard, but not impossible. At a time in this world of uncertainty, war, viruses and change none of us know when we might become refugees or homeless. Survival is difficult with very little and that's why I like to put myself outside of my comfort zone to test the waters of having literally nothing but my hands to make do with. If you enjoyed this video and would like to see more you can contribute a little to my work and watch extra content and all early releases first here on my Patreon plus exclusive videos

That’s truly amazing clay mate I’ve really learnt a lot just in the first few minutes of watching what you did with that old bone 🦴 and making the rope who said you can’t teach an old man new tricks well you’ve certainly taught this old fella a thing or two and catching that fish 🐠 wow well done clay mate thanks for sharing I really loved 🥰 everything you did and how you did it. I can see the young fellas learning a lot from you so don’t let the knowledge disappear pass it on to the next generation. Thanks again clay mate cheers 🥃Colin 🇦🇺😘🤠

Nice 1 Clay I love this stuff! Good on you. I have done similar missions, harakeke possum snears, trapping parore, nikau blanket and hot rocks at night. Good stuff ! I’m curious what did you say was your spindle was? It was a bit muffled. I have used kaikomako and totara on mahoe, totara is harder but works, (not much kaikomako to be found up north) Harakeke no good for bow drill but good for pump drill! Though yet to actually pull that 1 off! Challenge making a primitive flywheel! I recon you potentialy could , having access to sandstone..

Good going Damien, Take care out there, don't forget you bug repellent plants to put around your shelter. I have cooked the wide leaf plantain leaves like spinach as long as they are young the narrow leaf like you had get stringy. Make some bone hooks out of the vertebrae and rib sections from your fish. Takes a bit of thinking to organize yourself for a lifestyle change. Can't just walk out the house and say this is it, takes a bit of preparation for the routine changes. Good video Damien. Like the sailing fish station.
