I've been a rock and roller all my life, I'm dinosaur old. I've been a "semi-fan " of prince since the '80's. I was told he played a mean guitar and I was like yeah, right. I saw him on a video playing the hell out of a guitar I was like daaaamn! I gained a whole new respect for him. I even had my brothers and friends listen to him. all of them were slack jawed. I started listening to him every chance I got and again I was like daaaamn! he could dance like hell. he could sing like hell. he could play damn near every instrument like hell. he was a true artist. when he died I took it pretty rough. he wasn't a true legend, he IS a true legend!

The industry tried to ignore him commercially when he became independent, so a great part of his career work was not known by masses for some time. But when he resurfaced and entered into negotiations much of the work that was not known surfaced and he began to do shows and appearances on major awards shows. He began to showcase his skills commercially again, but there’s so much regarding his skills that’s unwitnessed, he passed before he had a chance to show it all. He was about to do just that with all the instruments and do so independently. This would have sealed him in the eyes of the general public as the greatest all around musician ever. A part of me feels they didn’t want that.

@@alistersutherland3688 indeed, Prince was a blessing to the world, Michael was talented but so cut off from reality thanks to never getting to be a kid. It was sad seeing the path mike was led down. The ones who loved him most destroyed him the hardest.

@Thomas Noell... nice and very true indeed :) I’ve never watched Batman movies, but he got me with that solo [Batdance] waaaaay back in the 90’s when I was waiting for unskinny bop by Poison... Ahh the good ol days!

"my hands are too small!! it's why i can't play the guitar..." Prince was 5'3... what's really your excuse? the man was simply a guitar GOD!!! moreover... he proactically created the soundtrack of the 80's. he's still so dearly missed...

I always loved Prince. The guy played a mean gutair. I would always ask my buddies that could shred their opinion about Prince. Every single one would say something disparaging about his playing skills. I always replied with you gotta go back and listen to his stuff again. Being a fan, Prince was always a musician i looked up too. However the night he dissed the Kardshian on his stage because she was too good to dance with Prince made him a freaking legend in my book. I miss this guy.

As a 30+ year guitar player and one who has been caught up in the thought that “better” stuff makes a better player, it was incredibly humbling to learn that most of Prince’s litany of exceptional solos were played on a simple Telecaster through some stock Boss and Dunlop pedals into a relatively basic Mesa Combo amp. My guitar rig is WAY “better”. Better guitars, better effects and better amps. Something MUST be wrong with all of my stuff because I can’t play nearly as well as he did. 😂

I know that each performer is unique and talented perhaps some more or less than others but honestly Prince was entertainment royalty and in a class of musician so unique he truely stood alone as the "Prince" of his musical genre while a master of live performances and guitar skills that make Slash look like a cartoon character. It's hard to believe we will get no more of him.

I saw Prince at a concert in the 90s. It was there I witnessed his virtuosity with the guitar. He went from playing acoustic, bass and electric seamlessly. It was more than his ability to shred. It is as if he could get his guitar to sing. I remember thinking that this man has to be one of the greats.
